When it comes to memory timings :banghead: I seem to be at a lost here. I'm trying to get my setup running 2700+. The only limiting factor comes up with memory. My corsair didnt like anything above 208mhz, which was fine since it was the value select brand. I picked up some ddr500 (crucial ballistix) and now it doesnt like anything above 226mhz. Currently the max through my bio's is 277fsb w/ my memory having a divider running. This has to come to timings...was wondering if anyone has some great links or good ideas on setting up memory.

Try giving it slightly more voltage first. Then you want to loosen the timings slightly. What are the rated timings on those Ballistix?

When I get back I will give that a try...I've had volts around 2.75-2.80 or in auto, I guess I just need to forget the red marks in the Bios and go higher.

Thanks

I have the rated timings at home, I think they are 2.5-3-3-8

Firstly, these stock at 2.8V for DDR500 speeds with timings of 3-3-3-8, i would try them on those timings and voltage and I think that you should acheive faster speeds, it's probably your 2.5 cas latency that might be doing it, if not give 2.9V a try and get back to us.
These should be performing much better than you are getting out of them, here is a review that might provide some tips, let us know how you get on:

I have just read about some "quirky" issues with some memory and your board, it's apparently all down to some BIOS settings that are a bit choosy so just to make sure you are as well informed as possible, take a look at this BIOS guide for your board that also may give you some tips:

Thanks for the help...I had the settings at 3-3-3-8 but voltage was only at 2.85, I did go to 2.9....What ended up helping was changing the Read Preamble and the Asyc Latency from 5.0/7.0 to 6.0/8.0. Once I did that I easily went over 300 FSB

311x9 CPU
311x4 HTT
5/6'th Memory Divider running 3-3-3-8

The cool thing....The CPU is still only on 1.35 volts :). I know with my processor's stepping I could hit 3ghz, but I like the fact I'm only running 32/27 idle and load hasnt broke 47 yet.

Nice, so your happy then, I would personally still take her to 1.4V and see what speeds you can get out of her, temps should only really go up by a couple of degrees.

Looks like you got things squared away. The beautiful thing about DDR500 is, its already oc'd really. It should allow for nice Overclocks on your processor, especially with that board. Have you tried pushing it past what you already posted?

You guys are evil!

3ghz (doing prime now but its getting hot..running mid 50's)

I think I'm going to fail because I've left my 5/6th's divider in, and its running at 272mhz, or DDR 544!

But I did get pi 1.5 done in 29.233secs!

2996mhz @ 1.4v
1331HT-link (my motherboard doesnt like above 1400 so should be fine, some run higher)
272mhz for ram at 3-3-3-8 @ 2.9

So true....I've learned alot in the last few days reading up on ram..Wish I had DDR2! At 322x9 I'm orthos stable all through the nite (7hours) with max load temp of 57 on 1.375. Soon as I go to 333 FSB I get errors in orthos after 10mins. Max load temp is 62 on 1.4v. I think its down to memory again :banghead:....For some reason my board never liked booting with a 2/3rds divider, reason I had to get ballistix memory as the corsair wouldnt work. Soon as I'm at 333 fsb that puts my memory at 279mhz....At 322 it seems to run fine (orthos stable) at 270mhz (ddr 540 isnt a bad oc from the rated ddr500)...To top it off I have the settings @ 2.5-3-3-7, no matter what I change them to it doesnt like going above 270mhz. I've tired 3-5-5-15, just about everything all the way up to 2.95v. There is a point where you cannot go any higher, and maintain stability and I've reached that with my ram. Even if I could run a 2/3 divider, I dont think I would gain much more room above 2900 on the processor, especially something I would allow on air.

See link in sig, should give you some useful info.
