Do you all think it is worth it to get another 7600gt xxx like the one I already have and run in SLI or would that be a waste. I could get another for 115.00 or should I wait till crysis comes out and get a 8800 later when the price drops?

Sure do. I'm waiting for some price cuts on the 8800 GTS to.

Hmm that is a good question.
Most people would prob. say go get the 8800, but these people do not bother to look at your CPU.
Your CPU will serverly bottleneck an 8800, meanwhile 2 7600GTs would not bottleneck them.
However, the 8800 can play DX10 games, while the 7600GTs cant.

So if you want to play Crysis you will need an 8 series card and it would be a waste buying a second 7600GT.
It may seem like an 8600 might better fit your needs since it shouldnt be bottlenecked by your CPU like the 8800s would.

You are right bruins. I did not check his cpu:o and indeed i think you are right when saying he will be better off with a 8600.:)

Wow, great site. The 8800 blows away two 7600 gt's in SLI..

I might upgrade to a intel core 2 duo 6600. Will that bottleneck ?

It will still get bottlenecked.
Right now a C2D 6600 bottlenecks an 8800GTX.

God damn my AMD Athlon64 3200+ bottlenecks my 7800GT.

Your CPU will bottleneck both 8800 series of cards.

Now which will do better the 8800 or the 8600?
The 8800 will obv. be better and will be able to play games easier and higher detail.
However, when it comes down to price/perf. the 8600 is the better option.
For over $100 more, there is a difference but not big enough to justify the bigger price.

From what I have seen I dont believe an E6600 bottlenecks an 8800GTS 320mb. If it does, it is very little. Also, I would wait until July 22nd since Intel price drops are occurring and you can get a much better dual core or quad core for around $266.

Cool, thanks for the info.. When the CPU bottlenecks the GPU, what is compromised?

next month the q6600 quad cores will be selling around $270 so get that and you wont have cpu bottlenecks

I would wait a bit for price drops and to see what ATi can offer in the performance segment.

Oh and so its clear, by performance I didnt mean mainstream ;)

for example; 8800GTX - flagship, 8800GTS - performance, 8600GTS - mainstream

Cool, thanks for the advice people. I will wait for the price cuts and see what I can afford then..
