From what I can tell, it's basically a 7600 core, with some more features unlocked through the BIOS
Some argue that the Quadros will hinder gaming performance, but just to see what my old 6600 could do, I soft-modded it into a Quadro (think the FX450 was based on 6600, can't be sure though)
I got some extra FPS, minimal advantage, but it did overclock higher before artifacting.
Could have been anomalous, but it seemed to improve performance a little over just the 6600 OCd

Well, if it's borrowed, I wouldn't mess with it too much, unless you're granted free-reign, heh.
If it is based on the 7600 core, there's no way of unlocking pipelines, as it has 12 total, and 12 unlocked already.

nah this card is not borrow, is mine now lol..
anyways i just insalled it and used riva tuner to check the pipeline. i only see 4 pipepline, and 3 vertex shader. not sure why.. and im 100% postive this is a FX550 as it label on the back of the card.
i download the riva tuner and play around with it find out that i was able to unlock 4 extra pipeline out of this card. makes it total of 8pipeline and 3 Vertex shader. not bad i guess..
but i think this card using 7300 core instead of 7600.
the FX560 prolly use 7600.
heres the SS of the Riva Tuner

i also tried to OC and got a pretty amazing result on this card.
as you see the Default speed was 360 core and 400 mhz for memory
i was able to clock it to 540 Core and 532mhz memory thats with the Cheap ass factory 2 inch size heatsink!!!

I guess theres a reason for them to sell these cheap quadro cards for over 200 bucks
ill post up the 3d mark 05 score after this i wonder what score i can get out of it

I'm pretty sure these guys know what they are talking about...RivaTuner says its a FX 550 anyway...On another note, correct me if I'm wrong guys, but hasn't the FX 550 been out too long to be based on the 7300 core?

The 550 is actually based on the NV43(as you can tell from the rivatuner screenshot) which is the same core as the FX5200. Basically you have a PCI-E FX5200 Ultra.

im not sure how long these cards been out, but all i know these are the entry level quadro cards. my friend got it from his company ( they were swaping these junks cards out and putting in better quadros in their machine throwing away these FX550 in the trash instead)
but if is not base on 7300 then it gotta be the 6200 version then...
my girlfriend use 6200 made by PNY and it only got 4 pipeline and 3 shader so it prolly could be from those cores

ahh for real?? damn no wonder they throw away these cards
but shit for a FX 5200 base cards they go for over 200??? thats insane.
but at least this card is for temporary use for now until my 8800GTS arrive

You know you are right, this is actually based of the 6200 core, I'm sorry.
NV43 is the 6200, NV34 is the FX5200, I'm dyslexic with numbers sometimes.
So, it also seems like you might be able to unlock the extra 4 pixel pipelines which are disabled. Try using rivatuner to do that, it should then be essentially an overclocked 6600 GT if you can get the same overclocks. Usually unlocking pipelines lowers your maximum overclock though, but it is worth it.
