Ever since updating my bios to F12, in the "Boot Order" I can select things that were never once available. Among them that caught my eye were USB-HDD. For whatever reason I have a lot of 4GB and other size flash drives. Would I be able to keep OS's on some of these flash drives and use them when reinstalling an operating system? I don't know why exactly I'd want to do that over using a CD-ROM, but just having it as an option seems interesting. Does data travel faster over a usb 2.0 flash drive or a SATA DVD-RW? Would it install faster, slower, about the same you think?

Flash is a lot slower than optical. Not worth it.

And, its also bad to run an OS off a flash drive. With all the constant read/write operations in the system files, the flash drive would wear out very fast. Not to mention the slow transfer rate, again...
