do u remember what was ur First SYStem
& whta WAS Frist CPU , You Bought !~!

woaaahaaa :o it makes me, close to CRY situation . old times old games old fashion & ALL old things

mine was pentium 166 w/o mmx + XXX!kb 8bit vga +16 mb EDO ram + opti931 snd + 1.6g quantom hdd + 14'' ctx + Acer 16X + & a genuis spk + & a Mouse TOO (boughten @ 6/94)

& first cpu i bought , Was a 166 MMX !( )

First system we had at home was a XT, 8Mhz i believe. We upgraded it's 20Mb disk to 40Mb, and it's hercules card to EGA, we were the shit :)

My first own computer was a 386 SX 16 from tulip. 40Mb disk and for my b-day I got a cd-rom player :D Later I upgraded to a DX40 which was the first computer I messed around with, At ac ertain point it has 20Mb RAM and I got me a parallel zipdrive for storage which also impressed my friends :D

After that was my first sin, I got a cyrix 133+, it was like 120Mhz and crap. I had 32MB ram and an S3 virge. Then again back in those days my dad payed for most things. I got a 4Gb Quantum bigfoot, actually we had various of those disks (My dad had one too, later I had a 6.4Gb model, my bro used one too) Seriously, those are the crappest disks I've ever seen.

The next upgrade was a 200MMX on an Abit SM-5. Short after I bought a voodoo banshee and entered the 3D arena.

After that came a P2-333 on a gigabyte board which got killed only last year by lightning, it was in my moms service till then.

Later I bought some board, and got a celeron 500 from my dad. W00t I had 2 comps.

A buddy of mine (can't mention he's a Turk, would be racist) was a cleaner somewhere and stole some hardware, for 25 guilders I bought a celeron 633, which I ofcourse used since. Also he had some dimm's which he didn't know what they were. I tested them in the old board and they got recognized as 32Mb, I bought them cheap. When I put them in my celly 633 they turned out to be 128Mb each, I never told him that though.

The celly 633 was equipped with a 64Mb kyro at a certain point, which is a great card. It really kicked some geforce in certain games due to it's tile based rendering. I really hope powervr ever releases a new model, it has been planned for quite some ages.

After the 633 I upgraded to a celeron 1.0a on an asus tusl2-c, overclocking valhalla, gaming needs increased as well so I bought a 9500np which was the key to meeting this great guy named w1zzard whom everybody loves. (I enjoy kissing ass)

I acquired mt first dedicated server after this, a bookpc with a celly 466. Great petite machine, I burnt it's bios rom though, still looking for a new chip to revive it.

I've used this setup for quite some time, it got replaced by a p4p800+2.4c+512Mb

The dedicated server is replaced by a dual 1Ghz cumine and the p4p800 got replaced by my xeon's. 3 days ago I traded the p4p800 for a xeon 3.06, so that's my new upgrade once I find a 2nd 3.06. the p4p800 will be replaced by some cheap board, unless I can find a 604 board for my current xeons, in that case I'll use only SMP machines :)

I hope you didn't read all this, if you did you must be really bored. Seriously, it's not even interesting, why would you care?

My fathers:
A Tandy 1000SX

IT ran dukenuke'm 3D at 1-8fps:)
---------

---------
P2 266MHZ, 96edo ram, voodoo1, later voodoo2, 6.5GB HD, 15", 24X CD

(now has an gf4600, 80GB, and runs CSS 20-80fps)
----------
P4 2.66 northwood (533MHZ), 786DDR333MHZ, 200GB, , 420W levocim, 17" TFT, 9500@9700 (now 6800GT)

----------

So if anyone has an Idea what I can do with a K6/2, let me know.
Currenly, it has 2 networkcards, and works (half) as a firewall.
Perhaps a DMZ is better?

my dads first system
a texas x86 and selfmade mobo plus 1 mb hdd and 1 kb ram

My first real one was a MOS KIM-1 in 1976 that had a 6502 CPU in it. The KIM-1 was a single board computer trainer. The first Intel based machine I built was a 286 with parts from JDR Micro in 1983. Had 1Mb of ram from tiny 64k chips. wild looking board with half of the whole board taken up with ram sockets. I had a 12" Monochrome EGA monitor with it. It also had the usual 2 x 5.25" floppy, and eventually I put a 10MB hard drive in it. Between the MOS and the 286, I used a Tandy TRS-80 (which I still have in mint condition), and a Comodore 64 that I wish I still had.

My first entry into 3D was the voodoo series, here is a pic of the last one of those I used. I was really worried when these babys were no longer supported.

Not only yours, but everyone elses too. Not boring at all. When I saw the title of this thread, I wondered...

My first "PC" was a Zenith laptop, it had a 10 Mhz 8088, 1 MB RAM, 10 MBs HDD, an external 720 Kb FDD, and a 640x200 CGA display :p

I would make a picture of my banshee but it's in my server.

Cool, I have ATI 8500-LEs in mine. I may put an ATI 9800-AIW Pro into one of my servers this weekend, and make it a dedicated PVR box. And once I get the X850 back (maybe today), I'll put a 9250 256MB in something that will take PCI.

Mine had a nice little pentium 133 mmx with 64mb of ram!! And 2mb onboard video. Then I got a nice little 4mb Cirrus logic card for it and was like, wow 4mb! :p

-Dan :D

First computers

My family's first computer was an IBM. I don't remember much about it except that it had a 286 or maybe a 386. I was just glad I could play command and conquer on it. went through several upgrades including the addition of a CD-Rom drive, and around a 100 MB HD. It had that nifty Turbo button. Anyone else remember those? The beast eventually died about 10 years after we bought it.

My first computer was an Acer Aspire. It had a 333MHz pentium II, 6 gig HD, 64 MB of RAM, 56k modem, and the 8 MB ATI Rage pro turbo. It was upgraded with a 40 gig HD, CD-RW drive, and now has about 196 MB of RAM (or some weird number like that) that a scavenged from other computers. I put Windows XP on it a couple of years ago, and the thing is still chugging along.

i used to , press it 1 billon time in a row , & on those days i even didn't know what was that , just some paly -able numbers(a button too :D ). & there were rumors in our firiends(2 member  ) group such a ; ufo thing , some racing jumpy ........

My first computer was a 90 Mhz intel overdrive, and thats all I remember about it :D Its power supply blew during a power surge about 2 weeks after I got it.
Then about4 years later in 2002 I got a celeron 333, 64 mb PC100 ram, and a 7.4 gb hard drive, 32 mb TNT2 PCI video card (Great video card) Good comp, but it had WIndows ME so after about 3 months I kicked the front in, and had to get a new case. :D Windows ME is the worst OS ever.

I have always used NT4.0 instead of 9x/me. Was a great OS, and back in those days most games could run in glide anyway so it's lack of Direct X wasn't a problem.

I vaguely remember when we first got our first computer, I believe I was five. This was around 1991, it was an IBM and had an intel 486 processor. God only knows how much RAM it had, but it was probably four or less. I shutter to think what kind of graphics it had, all I know is it was VGA compatable.
Originially it had no sound other than the integrated speaker that made the classic beeps and warbles were all familar with, but eventually we aquired one of the earlier sound blaster cards. Its orginal hard drive held only a few MB, but it was eventually upgraded to a couple hundred MB. It never aquired over 8 MB of Ram, and the most sophisticated game it would play was the Orginal Command and Conquer which it played really poorly.

i have no idea about nt 4.0 , it always had need sometin to run sometin , & thouse days with slow connection (@ least near me) whoohh , beside a windows with less Blue screen didn't have any fun

The P2 is all taken apart right now, I've got that hard drive sitting in a drawr. I'll bet it weighs close to two or three pounds.
