Futuremark is working on two 3DMark benchmarks

It is already known that Futuremark is currently working hard on the next version in the popular 3DMark series. Codenamed 3DMark Next, the upcoming version will bring DirectX 10 support, will require Windows Vista and will be released by the end of the year. But the 3DMark story won't be put on pause as Futuremark has one more 3DMark up its sleeve. As stated by Nick Renqvist in a recent blog post, the development of both next generation PC benchmarks is going great and although there is no release date suggested, we might very well see one new 3DMark released this fall and one around mid-2008.

awesome 3dmark 07 and 3dmark dx10. PRetty cool. I cant wait for the 3dmark next so all those who have dx10 cards can give us some performance bench numbers! :)

hat, don't laugh, it might get just 4000 marks. When a benchmark first comes out, it's very tough for the current generation, even if they are brilliant cards. Look at 3DMark01, back in the day, you'd be lucky to get, for example, 10,000 marks, and that'd be pushing it, now there are people getting over 100k.

Plus, of course, 3DMark06 calculated the final score with graphics and CPU scores together, so a system can really be dragged down by the CPU, and they'll likely do the same with the new benchmarks.
