That is interesting...I've never had that problem. Maybe check the Vista Tech Support Thread here:

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=24699

Make sure you've loaded all your Vista compatable drivers, and gotten the important Vista updates. But check out that thread, it may have some helpul info in there for ya! :toast:

I've had that problem aswell, not entirely sure what causes it but I did manage to fix it (it returned a few times, but was able to fix it then too) - What I did was I opened the 'Remove Windows Components' option from add/remove programs, and I tweaked that a bit. The first time I removed alot of junk from there (ISS and such) so that's why I'm not sure What exactly fixed it, but then later on it returned. All I had to do was open and close that RWC and it would let me use the control panel again (and windows update, which wasnt working either for the same reason).

Give it a shot, mate.

It's a driver conflict with Nvidea drivers, here's the fix;

1) Launch services.msc from a run command
2) Find the SLUNotify service & stop it
3) Find the Software Licensing service & stop it (it may say that ReadyBoost needs that service to run; stop it anyway)
4) Restart both services, starting with Software Licensing

Untill the drivers are updated thats it.

You can also set the software licensing and SL UI services to automatic and restart them.

Somewhere out there on the I-net is a Boot file written by a 70+ year old lady that fixes it all automatically, I just can't seem to locate it.
