View Full Version : laptop mouse pad stopped working?

my mouse pad stoped working for no reason and i thought maybe its a driver problem as i had just done a windows update but nope i have reinstalled windows and didnt work, i have taken it out and put it back in and it doesnt seem to work, it just stoped working while i was using it i have no idea why???

did you reinstall the drivers for it from the disks that came with it?
also what model and how old is it?

its a samsung v20 i have no driver disks for it but it worked fine

go to the site and see if there are drivers for it

Is there a keyboard shortcut to disable the touchpad? It's usually FN+a F or number key.

i have installed all drivers and checked to see if the touch pad in enabled and yes it is! so i still cant understand why it has stopped working?

You should download a copy of a bootable Linux distro like Knoppix. Boot off that and if the touchpad does not work in Linux, then you can be guaranteed it's not a software issue. If you have reseated the internal cable connecting the touchpad to the motherboard at both ends, and it still does not work, then I'd say the touchpad has failed. It is possible that the circuitry underneath the touchpad was damaged by ESD.
