Is Rainbow Six still for sale anywhere? Or rather is it still being produced?
I own three copies of the original game, Eagle Watch, Rogue Spear, Urban Ops, and Ops Essentials. Unfortunatley they're all lost somewhere back in the States.
I've been looking to get a copy of vanilla R6, but given it's age, and all it's successors, plus being over here now, it's a right pain.
I'm completely ok with downloading it online. I cannot pirate something I've paid for three times over. However even finding it online is a sob as well.
Anyone got a copy I could bum?
I'll host servers for you! :0

get SWAT 4 instead, R6 gaphics are outdated and AI is weak in comparsion to Far CRy, even BF2

If you were in the UK, I'd advise you to go to your local Tesco's supermarket, there tend to be bins with old and clearance games and films and music CDs. I actually got the original RB6 and the expansion for like something less than £1. I think they were only charging rather than giving them away just because of some formality.

Ya Rip, I am over here now, but well...computer software or hardware from a store isn't quite like it was in the States. I haven't even seen the bargain bins in Tescos or Morrisons(if they have one.) I'll let some mates know, and maybe we can do a tour of Norfolk/Suffolk and get lucky.
Kammster, Swat 4 was good, I played that back in the day as well, but the multi wasn't up to par for me.
I am aware that R6 graphics are outdated, lol! So is Duke3d, but if we could get a working port for XP, I'd be calling up all the old D.O.R.K. clan members and C-Eagle/Richtoften and host an "old schoolers" tourney :)

Just because the graphics are outdated doesn't mean the game sucks, it just means you need to update it, heheh.

You can play Duke3d on XP. Albeit you have to download some packages and do some weird stuff. I forgot all of what you had to do, but you can definately do it!

Most of us dropped competition/ranked Duke right around the tail end of 1999/2000. When XP came out, obviously there were compatibility issues. If not the sound/dos support lacking, there were connectivity issues online. I think the original goal was to provide a TCP/IP direct hosting module or application. "JoneF" and "RancidMeat" were at the forefront, and for several years, their applications attempted to do this, but were constantly plagued with bugs and little support. Last I heard over a year ago, JoneF had still been unable to pull it off.
I will research it again, but as far as I know, there's no solid host program for Duke or similar DOS games.

I think if someone started to remake Duke Nukem 3d, they'd be able to finish some time before the new Duke Nukem comes out, if development continues as it has been for the past... how long? 10 years now?

Heh ya, well you'd think so..
I thought it would have been really good, for some company to put out a set of all the old classic shooters, onto one or two discs for the ps3 or 360. They would be properly coded for such, and have some nice modern updates, but be really close to the original, at least in the gameplay aspect. They could optimize it for play over the ps3/360 online networks, and allow people to use kb/mouse or gamepad.
I think this would sell fairly well, if it was done right and had proper support. I'd even buy one of the consoles just for that.
It would be awesome in a 'starter pack' /bundle deal.
