From what I heard, STALKER has a very short campaign life. Anything from the Half Life series will keep you occupied for a while :).

As well as the HL2 mods...I recommend Red Orchestra, it's one of the most realistic WW2 FPS'...ever.

Ive completed Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 (both were great), so Red Orchestra is good?

Yeah, Red Orchestra is terrific, wait till you get shot (in the game) in the leg/arm. It's so realistic, if you get shot in the leg, you start limping, and if you get shot in the arm, you can't use that arm. Now that's realism :).

Sounds good to me, and it has a good singleplayer mode also?

Ouch, I should have read before reccomending it to you, Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Orchestra:_Ostfront_41-45) has quite a nice description of it.

I reckon "Call of Juarez" if you haven't already played it.

Kick ass western style FPS with slow-mo and stuff...

This one gives you something to look forward to if you pick up a DX10 card and DL the DX10 patch for the game ... (patch doesn't work with cracked games :()

ShadowRun kicks enormous amounts of ass, but you'll need to get a certain crack to have it run on xp.

F.E.A.R. + F.E.A.R. Extraction point should last you a while, or if you had a ps3 Resistance Fall of man, hehehe, oh and also elder scrolls oblivion

Don't forget to add Rainbow Six : Vegas to your list! Multiplayer on the PC side is something you may want to avoid but the single player experience is just fantastic! The graphics are top notch, some of the best I've seen to date and if you got a nice soundsystem, the firefights will just make you cream in your pants! :rockout:

I second the Vegas recommendation; and ya give online a whirl too if you want. It could be better, could be entirely worse. Some of us still play, we'll set you up a home server to come to :)

Stalker isn't as short as you may think when looking at overall game hour completion time. There's many things to go and do, like an MMO or RPG game, to increase the longevity.
It's got great ambience sound, and is creepy, it's as if you know something's not right, all the time, minus the rebels and gangs trying to kill you, and the Russian government raining hellfire down on you with rogue soldiers. Other than that, you can take a nice stroll through the weeds at your convenience.

AvP2 is a classic, still strikes the most fear into me out of any game.

FarCry has more value I think than FEAR in terms of SP. I couldn't see how anyone would say FEAR was more enjoyable than FarCry, single or multi.

I don't understand, well I do actually...why more games, especially FPS do not involve a mixture of a fatigue/injury mechanics system. Obviously they do not because players would complain how it hinders them and is too 'hard.' ;rolls eyes; FPS as far back as Rainbow 6 and Rogue Spear implimented such features.

So while it's nothing new, it's definatley a nice touch by the developer and an example of some of the features you'd want to look out for in making your decision.

Fortunatley, most of these games are fairly cheap now, especially on the PC.

Is it better than the 360 version (which is great btw), because I have it on that?

FarCry get's exponentially more difficult near the end. I was like "HOLY ***** mother of a je* ******* oh my ******** what the hell was that ******** ******** * * ** ******* ******* **** I'm out of ammo ****! ****! ****!

The PC Vegas is better graphically and convenience wise, so you can fine tune controls in and out of game, when using game board pads and special mice peripherals. Some say the Xbox live system works better for finding and hosting, but I jest. The only thing I can think that would make it 'better' is that there might be more players, which doesn't amount to a positive thing in all cases.

The PC version now has dedicated server options, which are far better than game lobbies.

I've put up a thread about hosting old R6 vanilla, and also mentioned I will host player lobby or dedicated for Vegas.

Wile ! Are you ready to play ? I just got someone else into Vegas, they're all ready to go. Teaching them the game atm and btw, you can customize everything about your persona in Vegas online. Clothing, armor (protection vs. mobility rating), weapons, pre sets etc.

I enjoyed Prey. Interesting backstory and cool use of environments.

For just unadulterated monster blasting without the baggage of much of a story, I still like Painkiller.

Aliens Vs. Predator is a blast-fest too. Some of the older ones you can get really cheap too.

story driven: quake 4, call of juarez, prey, serious sam 2, halo.

shoot em up: painkiller, any of the unreal tournament series.

half and half: call of duty 2, fear, stalker.

Guess Half Life 2 is worth mentioning.

Cheers to Painkiller!

Don't forget the original Unreal, before UT came out.

Duke3d FTW!

Yeah I bought mine when it went down to 500, and I got that game well worth it. FEAR, is a great scary game that would put you on the edge, plus extraction point, god....extraction point is just more freaky then scary so, thats a plus dont want to piss myself playing the game:eek:

I think Inifinity needs to play Quake IV or AvP2. I got scared admittedly twice with FEAR. The first evil cutscene that freaks most people out, and then at the end, when the game was wrapping up the last cutscene. I was entirely scared the game was already over!

Have you tried Prey? I'ts awesome, also try Starwars Republic Commando, hmm what about uhmm GRAW 2? Well Shadowrun also rocks, but it's more of a multiplayer fps... Unless you want to fight bots :D FEAR made me fall off my chair lol, hmm try YOU ARE EMPTY, it's kind of a nostalgic game lol but it got weird big b**bed nurses with deformed faces that lob poison at you, lol
