The Chinese government is to force online gaming companies to add software which will force gamers to enter an ID card number before playing. Gamers under the age of 18 who play at least three hours will get a screen which recommends a break to do suitable physical exercises and if gamers play over five hours their experience gained in the virtual world will reportedly be reduced. China has suffered a number of deaths by gamers in the past several years, with most deaths caused by dehydration due to too much game play without an extended break. In one case, World of Warcraft player Snowly died after playing the game for "several continuous days." Another gamer, Nan Ren Gu Shi, died one week after Snowly.

Obviously the Chinese government hasn't heard of natural selection. I say if your life is that boring that you have to occupy your time for several days straight without human contact... well lets just say i'm not too sorry. That country is crowded anyway. Hate to be a scrooge, but i say they "decrease the surplus population".

:toast: May we all breath better rofl.

I remember reading a newspaper article a while back describing a boot camp in China for gamers. It's kinda like fat camp, but for gamers trying to shake the addiction

Like i said earlier...i don't feel to sorry. Actually when i read that i laughed so hard i almost puked on the keyboard. I can't feel sorry for someone that lives for magical goblins and forgets to drink water and dies. Atleast i know life after level 60 is the AFTER life. Remind me to box up copies of World of Warcraft and send them to Al Qaeda.

As long as it's the person playing who dies.

I have to agree with you. It just drives me nuts that they are picking on gaming not social behavior. There are people that neglect their responsibilities for many reasons, it is a person problem, if video games weren't around it could just as easily be gambling machines for example.

This is just another example of government control were there should be none. However, this is communist China were talking about... so i'm really not shocked.

Try that shit in Europe or in the States, there's gonna be hell to pay.

There are plenty of people here in the good old US of A who would like the government to curtail freedom of choice. Remember what Tipper Gore tried to do in the nineties?

No offense to China, but life there must be pretty shitty to have people dying from playing a game days on end instead of going about their daily business. I can't see any other reason for not stopping....

The problem is not a cultural one, it is a personal one. There are many people all over the word who obsess on things that they do. To place something in your life above all others to the point of neglecting all else (including things like eating and drinking) will ultimately lead to your demise.

It is not the games that are the problem. As Darkrealms said, these type of people would eventually find something else to consume them.

It is really very sad, as life has so much to offer if you just take a moment to look.

I always have a half litre water mug besides me, can recommend for everyone. It has another good effect besides not dying, that you have to go to the bathroom from time to time, there's your exercise ;D
