View Full Version : Germany Starts Funding On Google Search Engine Rival

The European Union this Thursday gave the green light to Germany in order for them to spend 120 million euros ($167 million) on research for an EU based search engine, the Theseus. The Theseus research project will develop and test new search technologies such as a multimedia search engine, a set of tools for translating text and identifying and indexing images, sound and text.
Siemens Vice President of Corporate Technology Hartmut stated that
The technology Theseus will develop will generate new knowledge from knowledge.Siemens is the leading company in a total of 22 companies working on Theseus.

With Siemens backing it, it will have all the funding it needs to find something that works. Siemens is practically the bank of Germany (if not literally).

Nice to see a competitor but I dont know how well it will fair.

Depends on your industry and location. I know 3 prior Siemens medical repair/install techs. They have been getting dumped on, over worked, under equiped like crazy. The medical field is not the place to work for them.
