Asus Motherboards Will Support 45nm CPUs

Asus has provided a list of motherboards which will support Intel's upcoming 45nm CPUs. A broad range of boards and chipsets will be supported, not just boards with Intel's P35 chipset. So some Asus owners may be able to give a sigh of relief if they were concerned they might not be able to upgrade to a 45nm CPU.

Supported chipsets include the P35, 975X, P965, G33, from Intel and the 680i and 650i from Nvidia. Supported boards include models from the P5K, P5B, and P5N series. Some boards may require a BIOS update in order to support upcoming 45nm CPUs. Check the list to see if your motherboard is included.

What a coincidence my main system and my storage system (not in the new system specs fully yet) use P65 and 650i from asus :D

Their websites actually say that they'll take '1333FSB CPU's when available' and have for some time.

Whii, even more support for my mobo. Well the box already said fsb1333 support (reference to previous news), but this wasn't promised :) Now all those solidstate capasitors might be usefull after all, as there is no need to update motherboard for a loong time.

my mobo supports FSB1600 let alone FSB1333....

On the package of my P5B Deluxe it said FSB1333 compatable. But this is a good reassurance since all I heard was the P35's only supporting them. But now I can go for that 45nm down the road with my current setup! Woot!

Now if they could make a DDR2 to DDR3 conversion socket/slot and somehow make DDR3 compatable! :toast:

i was looking forward to ditching my striker extreme, but oh well looks like im stuck with it for a while longer....... i know im a lil slow on the uptake but is there any pricing for these new cpu's yet?

rampage: you smell funny. Also, the should match up with the old CPU prices. what a kentsfield quad core cost at launch, these quads should be similar too - they wont be cheaper than anything currently on the market, and it'll take 2-3 months for price drops on the old models to filter into australia anyway.
