i was thinking a raffle like system based off the number of entries you make to HWBOT would work but this may become unfair as ppl may have more systems thatn others so what do you think suggestions would be nice.

Here's a easy way to do it CD ... lets just say to enter you must have a HWbot entry using the TPU as the site ... post your info or your hwbot bench format( forgot the format ) ... to enter and we'll draw the post number like the Mushkin PSU giveaway ..

Nice go crazy, I need to get my hands on my grandparents P3 @ 600 mhz. I can push it up to like 120 some...giving me 700-800 mhz I forget how much. The only problem was I couldn't unlink the processor from the ram, and their ram is only rated for 100 mhz. Otherwise a bump to 133 would be pretty easy. I also got a old socket 7 533 mhz amd with integrated graphics, just need to get a new fuse for that. We have a p4 with integrated graphics, but I can't place because p4-> no overclocking (dell) integrated graphics-> no overclocking, and the p4 isn't fast enough to place.

or something like that
that way people get rewarding for going above and beyond :)
a tier system such as:
1-5pts - 1 entry
5-12pts - 2 entries
12-20pts - 3 entries
20-30pts - 4
30 - 40 - 5
40 - 50 -6

something along those lines :D

I really hate to do this and sound like a sore looser but this was a flawed contest to begin with. Instead of rewarding the folks who've been apart of the TPU hwBOT team for awhile and being major contributing members, most of the winners were people who only joined up for the contest and never had any intention of helping the team out in the long run...

First it was not a contest but a giveaway... it was a way to bring attention to the TPU HWBot team and help get members involved. It was also an idea to use for a giveaway and I'm sorry you feel it was flawed, maybe it was a bad idea to have a giveaway if its going to be viewed as an issue ... :nutkick:

I agree with you this time. Sovereign the whole idea was to make our Hwbot team known to more people. What I consider wrong is that the giveaway had three prizes for one month. It should have one prize per month. So more members would get involved. Another mistake was that the giveaway was run in the holiday period:shadedshu

When a Vendor says hey sure I have some prizes for a giveaway I'm not going to say "Oh one a month please" and I feel it gave more people a chance to win ... No, at least I don't, see it as flawed, wrong or a mistake. This giveaway brought our team a lot of points and a way better ranking. I'm just saying that it could be organized a LITTLE BIT different. Plus we know you don't have to do giveaways but I beleive that we have the right to criticise them

BTW: This was a great giveaway. We are thanking you for that. Not just for trying. This giveaway was excellent. I just figured out some ways to make it perfect. But anyway, what is perfect these days? I guess nothing.

I agree with Demos to a degree...

Urlyin, I think this was blown out of proportion, somewhat, my gripe wasn't about the fact that TPU and whoever else was involved was kind enough to do this for us, it was the fact that the people who got involved for this giveaway have/had absolutely no intention of helping TPU and/or it's HWBOT team. They were in it purely for the prizes. Just have a look at two of the three people who won, notice their join dates, their amount of activity on the HWBOT TEAM since the giveaway ended? I can exclude JrRacinFan because he did, afterall, join well before this giveaway actualy started.

What I am saying is that these people shouldn't have had the chance to be rewarded with nice free hardware over the folks who've actualy put forth the time and effort into caring about TPU and it's HWBOT team. Thats my 2 cents on the subject! I sincerely appologize if I came off sounding like I'm ungratefull to you and TPU. I understand that this was done out of kindness and alot of work/thought was involved by folks that didn't have to do so in the first place. I guess I shouldn't have brought it up if I knew it was going to touch a nerve with you but like I said, I only did so cause I thought the actual folks who make TPU a better place and the HWBOT team as competitive as it is were slighted by a system that ultimately allowed folks who really don't give a damn either way to be rewarded in the end.

Yes you hit a nerve and perhaps I reacted a little harsh but if you go back and look there were only 40 to 41 posts... not what I had expected and thought to open this giveaway up to everyone as opposed to the last one that had limits... I was disappointed with the turn out and maybe I need to do a better job at getting the word out. The giveaway would have happened reguardless of using the HWBot as a way to get people involved and it was for all the members of TPU, not just the HWBot team... can't please all the people all the time.. no hard feelings on my part and understand your view but don't know what you had expected from the begining... dunno other than to say more thought maybe needed for any future ones..

They get the prizes while the folks who have contributed the majority of the points get left standing their with a thumb up their arse.

Let me use this analogy ;

You've been with a company for a long time, put forth alot of hard work and long hours hoping that one day you'll get noticed by the company brass and be justly compensated, so to speak.

The next thing you know, your being told that someone who just joined the company a few short months ago is getting that raise and a promotion that you worked so hard for...

What was the point then of having put forth all that effort and time?

Ultimately though, I see the big picture now that Demos and Urlyin have explained their side of the story. Again, I appologize for comming of sounding like I'm being an ungratefull SOB. Congrats to the winners and a HUGE THANK YOU TO URLYIN and the rest of the TPU folks for doing such a generous thing as this giveaway!

I realize that now and I guess I over-reacted a bit. This sort of thing does touch a nerve with me on a personal level but again, I realize it was ultimately a very kind gesture for Urlyin and the crew to do for us and ultimately benifited the team in the end. I can genuinely say that I am proud to be a part of TPU because of Urlyin and the rest of the community. They do a wonderful job and theirs plenty that they do that goes unoticed that ultimately makes this place as great as it is!

That has nothing to do with it. You can't compare a company with a giveaway. This giveaway was to GET MORE PEOPLE IN OUR TEAM. So eventually the newer people will win because they are more than us(who joined HwBot a long time ago)

It wasn't my intention to point you out as I made a note to exclude you because you were an actual contributing member who had also joined well before the start of the giveaway. Again, I think this whole thing got way out of hand as I should have just kept my mouth shut. I never wanted to piss you off or really anyone else for that matter, just wanted to state what was on my mind at the time. Now that I've had a chance to think about it along with some reasoning handed my way by Urlyin, Demos and cdawall, I realize that it was a big mistake. :o
