When I run source dedicated server everything runs fine for LAN play. However, when my friends try to find the server in the internet servers list it's not there. I searched the steam forums for the answer for about 45 min. but it's such a cluttered mess I finally got frustrated and thought I would see if anyone here could help me find an answer.

No clue how the server system at valve works, though did you open ports on your router? I take it the steam servers need to be able to connect to the server before they list it. Also I highly doubt a server set for LAN will contact steam. Can't your friend manually type your IP?
If everything failes you can also set your server up as VPN server and have your friend connect to the VPN, that way he's on the LAN and the LAN server will show up.

hm its a known bug.
when u crate a game then u will find.
its because valve gives you over the won id server another ip
u will find your friend only over the hostname

I'm really sorry gR3if but I don't quite understand what you are trying to say. Do you mean valve is giving my server the wrong IP address, and I should look for the server by hostname?
