The ending was too corny/lame/predictable.

Look to cyanide and happiness for example, you can hardly EVER predict the ending :roll:

Maybe instead of thinking it up as a whole, you should think of a funny moment that comprises the ending and then structure your story backwards (towards the beginning) out of that.

I disagree.
I think theres only so far you can go with cartoons.

I mean, its not like writing a story where you can manipulate the conventions of a genre, form and the context in which its set. All you can play with in cartoon strips falls into the category of artistry, the vocabulary used and the plotline presented.

You cant be too different unless your going to become abstract, but wheres the fun in that?
You can have an unpredictable ending and still be original, it just takes some thinking.
Satire something, make social commentary.

Example - Imagine everything I just said in this post was the first three frames of a four cel cartoon strip. What would you put in the ending :p? Ben Clarke coming up behind me as I typed it at the computer and putting a running chainsaw through the back of my unsuspecting head :p? Ben Clarke posting an entirely scribbled out comic with a gigantic "FUCK YOU EXREVEN!"

"Being different" gets old just as quick as being the same as everyone else.

Its the added flair that will set you apart from the rest.

OK guys, I'm thinking of getting back into the webcomic business in my spare time. However, it won't be FSB - it's too hard to think of random gags, and slightly frustrating.

SO - I want your opinions on what you want. I'll take your ideas, and try to combine them into one comic, with an actual Storyline. Of course, I could just go for the old medieval time elf-goes-looking-for-random-item storyline, but where's the fun in that? What do YOU want?

Oh, and did I mention that this time, it will be professional quality? As in real-lookng people, inked and coloured? I didn't? Oh, well, now I did.
