what are you converting from and to? (ie DivX to DVD etc)

I use the following software:

DivX to DVD = ConvertXtoDVD
various AVI to DivX = DivX Converter

I can't remember if tmpgenc does that... Very fast though.

Try Avidemux, however Virtual dub should do just fine even though it's not multi threaded.

If you don't mind the command line, and you know specifically what output you want i'd say FFMPEG, it's fast and simple...

kinda :p

i have tried virtual dub so many times and never liked it. I like the more "simple" converters. Maybe i'll stick with what i got. it works fine when converting more than one video but if it's one then it's slow
