Ok so I have as you can see to the left the eVGA 680i SE
now take note, that is the cheapest in eVGA's 680i lineup
I have an offer to trade for a like new intel 975 Bad Axe which can be found here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121059)
His retails at around $60 more than mine and I thought I remember reading that the bad axe can OC well?
The main reason he wants to switch is to run SLI, which he can't on the intel board, but I'd be able to run CF if I wanted to on the bad axe.
Can I get some guidance here please?! :respect:

P965/P35 overclock better than bad axe.

but which of mine or his would? I probably wouldn't be able to get this deal any other time...also note that I got the 680i for 95 shipped lol and it's in perfect condition

woops I thought this was a fs thread....let me go look on line for oc results. Are you running quad or dual? or planning on running quad?
EDIT: Look here for info. A 680i will overclock better than a bad axe if your running dual core. If quad, go for bad axe, however, I really have to say this: both have weaknesses that are overcome by P35. If you're looking for a board to overclock a quad... I'd say bad axe, but idk how overclocking with that is.

e6600 for now and probably a while unless that deal goes through eventually where I'll get a q6600 for 200

Yeah umm actually I think 680i can push better fsb on quad cores....look at TPU's review here (http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/QX6700/3) and notice it got 330 fsb. A q6600 on a early revision mobo can get 2.8-2.9 so it can overclock a quad slightly better. All in all, depends on if you want high overclocking on your e6600 or xfire. Or if you want sli go with 680i...but if it was me, I'd stick with your mobo.

Well nflesher, what your looking at is pretty much if your planning on going crossfire. Take note though, if you do that you may need a beefy psu.
I am not doubting your current one, I am just stating you may need something better.

I'm really not sure what to do here :(
possibility is pretty good that I would eventually go CF with another 1950pro if i had a CF board...

Bahh. I'm not a big SLI or CF fan, even since the first version of SLI back in the late 90's, I'd rather have one more powerful card for generally the same price then 2 less powerful, but more power consuming cards in either mode. Granted I love my x1950, with my x16, x4 CF mode, I wouldn't waste my money. The BadAxe is a great board, so is your board, I recommend you do more research and find out which has more features to your linkings/needs. We can recommend all we want, but it's YOU that has to make the decision. So make sure that you've done your homework and that your decision is sound for what you want/need. :toast:

thanks for the advice Kursah,
I'm totally content with my one 1950 Pro and I suppose the main appeal in the whole deal was that the bad axe has a higher retail value so I naturally assumed I was getting something better, along with the ability to go CF down the road if I choose to
I suppose I'll content myself with the 680i for the time being :)

Probably a wise decision unless you decide you "need" to spend more for another x1950pro and your games require it and not your 3DMark score. I know a couple of guys with the BadAxe, they like it, but can't touch my OC levels, so I figure your 680i has a better chance on the OC front which can extract more performance if done properly. Nothing against Intel, nothing against NV, but price doesn't always display the quality value. If you're happy with what you have, and trading for something that may require more or different equipment may be asking for headaches and dissapointments. And none of us want that!
You'll be fine with what you have for a while dude! :rockout:

lol I hear you about avoiding headaches and dissapointments
in fact, I just got my whole case under control tonight regarding wire management
I didn't even realize it's already 2 am haha I've been at it about 4 hours hadn't even looked at the clock
I'd hate to have to take this all apart anyway after just getting it all nice and organized!
