View Full Version : Locating my BIOS jumper?
Hey all!
I've just come back holiday to find my PC is extremely ill..as in won't even get up . I know its infecting with a virus which is stored on my CMOS so I'm going to need to wipe it :banghead:. Trouble is I don't quite know how...do I just remove the battery for a minute or so?
Thanks,
FAXA

to reset your cmos you could do that or short the jumper with a key for like 10 secs that will reset your bios too.. a virus in your cmos! eek good luck hope you get it working.. I though they would only effect the HD.
Ok I've fixed it now :D (by removing the battery). I had to take my GPU out to reach it though :S. But all works fine now :D:D:D:D:D:D.
Thanks too everyone who helped (in previous threads as well) me with this.

I would recommend using the CMOS jumper as this guarantees a safe reset. Your motherboard manual should have instructions though in general the procedure is usually the same. Unplug PSU, push power button a couple times to dissipate remaining charge, set jumper and wait minimum 15 seconds. I'd recommend at least a minute to be safe.
