i got a BFG 7800GS OC and was hoping for some help modding it in every way possible ie. pipe unlocks and volt boosts

here my bios if any of you is uber smart and can unlock the pipes for me :D:D

G71 core=7900 could unlock to 24/8

max oc so far is 495/1.43 with rivatuner

Sent me a pm with your bios and I'll work on it once I come back from the gym

The pipes are not unlockable from the BIOS, I already tried

I thought your card was AGP?

i think the actual chips pci-e on a rialto style agp bridge

Yup, think your right, just thought it strange that he has a 7900GS Bios showing in the bunny rabbit :D If rabit cant differentiate between the 2 cards because they are the same core then that just makes it near on impossible to do anything with it IMO.

well thats no fun guess its vmods for me then :ohwell: 1.5vgpu and some looser timings maybe 700/2ghz?

Well through your bios i can up the voltages a bit. Tell me if you want that or if you are going for hardmod. Current is 1.1V. I can change it to 1.2V or 1.3V. 1.2V WILL work for sure. 1.3V should work too but we'll see by testing)

EDIT: Also tell me if you are happy with your fan's speed. It's currently 79% at 3D. I keep mine always 100%

Actually the 7800GS card is really a 7900 GT renamed.

BTW: Not rabit. You mean nibitor right?:D

its set to 100% in riva from 79 :D and the volts part you think it can handle 1.5v on stock the articles i have read said it should but what do you think cause thats just a hardmod away and thats good for ~700mhz core and as for the ram looser timings and vdimm mod?

what do you mean on stock? Stock cooling? Also you don't need to loosen up your ram timings but a vdimm mod sounds great:rockout:

EDIT: Are you using a modded bios? With what voltage? Stock is 1.1V. I can push it to 1.2V through the bios

No it isn't.

The 7800GS is a 16 pipe card based off of the original G70 core (ala 7800GT(X)) albeit ported over to AGP. AS with the 7800GT the dies are laser cut and are physically impossible to unlock.

The only 7900GT to be given a 7800GS badge was the gainward 7800GS + GLH model which was a 7900GT ported over to AGP via a HSI chip. (it was not an official 7800GS but merely a name given to it).

The 7900GS is the card based off of the 7900GT albeit with cut down pixel pipelines and vertex unit.

GeForce 7800 GS AGP
On February 2, 2006, NVIDIA announced the 7800 GS as the first AGP video card in the GeForce 7 series lineup, an AGP version of the high-end Geforce 7 Series.[12]

This card was promoted by several hardware enthusiasts as "the last high-ended AGP card in existence". It has 16 pixel shader units instead of the 20 that the 7800 GT has, but still benefits from the optimizations of the other 7-series GPUs enjoy. Clock speeds are 375 MHz for the GPU and 1200 MHz for the (GDDR3) memory. According to all benchmark tests, the performance of this card is above and beyond both the GeForce 6800 GT and GeForce 6800 Ultra. Different vendors may deviate from the stated specification. It serves to provide a great upgrade path for those with high-end AGP systems who don't want to switch to a new high-end PCI-Express system.[13]

There was a special "Golden Sample" release from Gainward that was called "7800 GS+" or officially "Bliss 7800 GS 512 MB GS+" that had default clock speeds of 450 MHz core and 1250 MHz memory. Unlike a standard 7800 GS, the 7800 GS+ actually used a 7900 GT GPU that had the full 24 pixel shaders instead of the regular 16 pixel shaders that are normally found on a 7800 GS video card.

Gainward had previously released a "Bliss 7800 GS 512MB GS" card that was based on a 7800 GT but utilized the AGP bus. Its external appearance and name make it nearly indistinguishable from the 7900 GT-based Bliss 7800 GS 512MB GS+. Leadtek produced a similar card with 256MB memory.

In late 2006 Gainward released a third '7800 GS' card with 20 pixel shaders running at 500 MHz core and 1400 MHz memory called the "BLISS GS-GLH".[14] This card is also based on the 7900 GS core.

There are no after-market cooling systems for the 7800 GS, stock cooling in the GeForce 7800 GS AGP is adequate. The board layout is radically different from other GeForce 7 boards so no universal aftermarket coolers would fit without significant modification to their mounting mechanisms.

Gainward isn't the only company to do that, they are just the most well known.

BFG has released 7900/7800 series cards that were unlockable in the past, but only in rather limitted quantities. They had a large batch of 7900GS PCI-E cards that unlocked though.

did you ont see the 1st pic? mines a G71 core ala 7800GS+ i read the same wiki it has not been updated in for pertinent info in a while

ever company the released a GS released a "GS+" but left them locked 16/6 gainward just did 20/7 and 24/8 which is why they were known for the cards

Well this isn't exactly for the title of the article, but atleast I don't have to start a new topic. So my question is, if I got artifacts on with the ATITools testing utility, does it mean that my video card is damaged on some way? Running now on stock clocks and the card is Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800GS Golden Sample 256MB. Thank you.

Well there's nothing so big, in games I mean. This is my current RivaTuner show-up, I couldn't get the NiBiTor to read my GPU BIOS for some reason.

is your bus speed out of whack that makes mine artifact i had to drop to stock on bus speeds for it to stop
