Well I have to say, I'm thoroughly PISSED off with this game...
Now don't get me wrong, it's a great game, and I've completed it a few times, but the amount of bugs, graphical errors, and generally lack of effort is astounding, even with the latest patch.
Now I bought it as soon as it was released on PC, and there were a few problems (like there was with VC) and I thought "fine, I'll wait for the patch"
Yeah right.
I've tried everything, changed every setting, different drivers, and NOTHING will stop the graphical errors. It's most notable when flying. There are HUGE bits of the landscape missing which don't load until a few seconds before you crash in to them.
Any ideas? Or is the game just a coded mess??

I have found with all GTA games that hard drive access speed is the biggest issue. If one of your drives has read access rate over ten you have this issue.

I've got a brand new SATAII Samsung 250Gb in my PC now.
I used to have an 80Gb SATAI Excelstor, and I'm getting the same issues.

Well I have seen this issue with GTA3,VS, and SA. All the problems where from hard drives. Last time I had this issue I found an old SCSI 2 drive installed windows on it with GTA and boom the problem went away.
I see that you have newer drivers, and they should be around 8ns. Soooo hmmmm

How bad is your drive fragmented?

I never had the problem with GTA3 and VC. I even have them installed currently, and have no graphical errors at all.
Less than 1%

I don't get them with SA at all. I also bought the game on release day.
How many system process do you have running? Run system defrag and see if that helps if you haven't tried that.
What resolution are you trying to play this game in>?

Currently 40, but I always shut everything down first, so it's normally around 30 processes.
Tried defragging, doesn't help.
I'm playing at 1280 x 1024 (max my current monitor supports)

Well I don't know then.......The missing textures are normally from the system trying to catch up with it. Your X1950xt should be plenty fast. I have played that game maxed with a x1800xt.
The only thing that I could take a guess at is your SATA controller. I don't know how to test that and see if it's reading/writing at the correct speeds.

Hmm....that's annoying....

I've always had troubles with missing textures in GTAVC, but GTASA runs flawlessly for me. I've never been able to determine a proper solution for VC either.

It has always run fine for me, the only problem I have had is missing sound with non patched SA. But I have been running RAID for years, the last non RAID system I had was my 2Ghz celery.

No one has the same problem as I do....except if you read any reviews on GTASA from around it's release date, a lot of them say they had the same problems as I do....
SA runs flawless on my rig also. Perhaps make sure you update DX9, and most of the drivers.

I have no problems. Something on your system isn't right.

Are you using the Sil controller, or the nVidia controller on the hard drive with the game on it? Try installing it to your storage drive, and switch the storage drive over to the other controller to test.

Both my HDDs are on the nVidia controller.
I have the latest DX9 and the latest drivers.

this was released a few days ago i think,
http://grandtheftauto.filefront.com/file/Xtreme_Graphics_Pack_by_Sharan_T2;82161x
seems to have helped,
but i need to find a mod that draws all the textures all the time, not just when you get close to stuff.

My board only uses the sil controller for RAID. I have all my SATA plugs full up (only have 4), and none of them are on the sil controller.
