i am trying to delete dynamic disk in windows xp disk management. if i right click the options to delete or any other option that i need is grayed out. i have tried diskpart and it wont let me delete the volume , it says there are files it needs so i cant delete. man dynamic disk owns my drive now, i just want it off so i can go back to basic disk. i need some help, i cant even use iolo diskwasher to clean the drive , it wont let me access the drive either. i had dynamic drive before and was able to get rid of it.

Your C: or some other drive? Or have you moved system files such as pagefile or hiberfil to the drive?

yes it is drive c, with system files. it is one single drive with no partitions. even when i try to reinstall the operating system it wont let me change from a dynamic drive. i dont care if i lose all my files i have them backed up, and i dont care if i have to reinstall the os. all i want is to get this dynamic disk off my drive, how can something be so difficult? i am stumped.

How can it be drive C when it has no partitions?
Just insert your Windows CD and let it partition the drive.

finally my computer cooperated and let me delete the drive and reformat it when trying to reinstall xp. i dont know what was wrong and why i couldnt do it , but it gave in and let me delete and reformat. but that is the way to do it and i had done it before when my pc didnt have a mind of its own. i looked everywhere for help and this is the only place that offered any answers or suggestions. this is a great site, thanks for all the help.
