I am looking to buy HIS brand X1950 Pro AGP 256MB card (ICEQ Turbo edition). I heard some issues with VERSION 1 cards. V2 cards are better? I am getting a good deal on the V1 card. So please post any of your bad experiences with V1 and in what way V2 would be better.

Thanks

I have a V1 and it's been great! It seem like on the V2 that they lowered the gpu clocks and raised the mem clocks a bit. I think that the problems they had with the V1 was with the gpu being too high, but not on all cards. You might want to try lapping the cooler. It's a pain in the ass with the mounts on it. I used a flat straight piece of steel wrapped in 1500 grit wet sandpaper. Or, you can always underclock the gpu with ATi tool. Hopefully there are no problems at all and you get a great deal!

How good is HIS mail-in-rebate? Does it suck like other Video card manufacturers?

Or should I go with this Sapphire

and install a custom cooler like

I knida like your idea with the 1950gt and the cooler. I've heard the gt's overclock better. I still have the card.
From my experience all mail-in rebates suck.

"overclock better" is a myth. The reason the GT "seems" to clock better is simply because the GPU by default is clocked much lower, hence the illusion it has much more headroom than on the Pros ;)

The version you got is a good version indeed! I got one with a crappy cooler. Hence, it wasn't the turbo edition.
