so in the process of doing some modding on this x1900xtx that im about to toss out a window i busted a set screw on the cooler and figured i would just upgrade. which turned into another dose of frustration. i picked up one of these becuz it exhausts out the back of the case.

after getting it mounted i noticed even at full speed barely any air came out the back of this cooler. it apears the fan is turning backwards to any other fan ive ever seen. i even compared it to other squirrel cage fans and it still looks to be going backwards. and the fact that the fins face away from the direction the air should be going pretty much sealed the deal. long story short i gutted it and inserted the inards of a 92mm case fan. it works MUCH better now. hows it look?

i know its not a squirrel cage but it still moves close to 3 times the air that the one that came in this turd did.

i relize there not much of a point to this post, im just venting my frustration with some of the products that are marketed towards overclocking and modding.

the thing in the top of the pic is the fan that was in the cooler stock

Well if your posting you might as well tell us your MHZ,Volteges, and temps. by the way it looks really good for a quick mod like that

running 1.35 core volts at 702mhz and mem stock volts at 882mhz. the stock cooler still over clocked better then this one but this cooler is better then it was when it was stock.

yes i know im undervolting, im just heating thermal limits

Are you using ATITool for OCing ? Did you up the fan speed to 100% on the Thermaltake stock fan ?

the fan came with a molex originally and i tried it like that so it was full speed. it was still worthless. im serious its like it was spinning backwards or something. it wouldnt blow a sticky not off the back case vent.
this one i wired to the header on the card, i hav it set to 50% untill i get to 60degrees then it goes full speed

Send the cooler back. Its not uncommon hearing of cooling solutions where the fans are wired wrong, so hence, they spin backwards.

now where would the fun in that be?? its already here why not just mod it till it works (or can no longer be made to work)

besides i had to cut the old fan out and epoxy the new one in, i doubt they will take it back now.
