How's it work? you use that to play the game once you've installed it? or...?

"version 0.3

http://halo2xp.tk/
or
http://halo2xp.web1000.com/

TO RUN: click on START.bat

Purpose:
Installs Halo 2 through a simple interface
not an exe, but a batch so its easily modified and not suspicious.

CHOICE.exe -taken from freedos
Loader.exe -the 0.2 version loader by abcba
the rest of the dlls are needed by loader/to install.

cmdow.exe -keeps install window on top (http://www.commandline.co.uk)
reg.exe -already a part of windows XP OS, but not inlcuded in Win2K

changes 0.4:

INSTALLER:
-got rid of process view (pv.exe) now check if install is done through registry
-added desktop shortcut

UNINSTALL:
-first release didn't really uninstall anything :(
-changed a LOT, now finds install dir through registry and dir/user entries through env variables

START.bat:
-added a "main menu" tpye of screen
-backup registry option (comletely optional)

KNOWN BUGS:
-If user clicks "Play" instead of "Customize" the cmd window will endlessly loop at "waiting for
install to complete" - if that happens, close that window, click START.bat, uninstall, then
reinstall correctly

TODO:

-Add backup/restore savegames option
-find a permanent fix for gravemind
-Test/Add Windows 2000 and Windows Xp 64 support

im not affilaited with anyone in any way and have no contact with any of the other creators by any means.

I already have Halo2 on my xp, although that uninstall stuff from the batch file deleted 1 dx9 dll, luckily installing dx9 fixed it :D

I've been running it with the original version of the crack on XP x64. It runs really well (on my outdated computer, I get 1280x720 w/high settings AA-2x). For some weird reason they neglected to add 1440x900 :( . Anyways, with xp x64, the gravemind loading bug happens on every level except the second level as the arbiter (killing the heretic), so you must use the process monitor trick for every level except that one.

I think this is alot like BioShock on an X850XT. It's badass when it does work. But, most of the time, it's going to glitch like crazy, and you usually have to have a good knowledge of modding to do anything.

I mean, yes, $120 for a new video card (and/or OS) is a pretty big cost, but...you're paying for stability. Not to mention, new games will all be needing that new video card/ OS.

Surely you jest. Xp x64 is extremely stable for me. Vista x64 was no more stable. However, xp x86 is a lot less stable (I've only briefly used Vista x86 Home Basic, so I can't comment on that.

Ha, it seems as if we have polar opposite luck.

I have never had a stability issue with XP x86, or Vista x86.

I have never been able to get a 64 bit operating system to work right....

Do you think you can mod this to work on XP pro 64BIT ? I know tons that would like this very much!
I for one I can not get it to run on the 64bit XP OS and that sucks !

Meet the most thorough guide you are likely to find.

http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=81123

About halfway down the first page, I did some complaining, kinda. :p And out of it, the thread creator said why it is so long. to "leave nothing to chance that a person following my guide will become confused or get off track." If anybody here still hasn't done it, this guide seems very thorough if you need some extra explaining.
