The card had the fan spinning slowly and the card was heating a lot. It has no temp. monitoring or fan control. I solved the problem with the fan by greasing it but the card still has problems. It simply isn't recognized by DirectX. In Windows the animations are slow, in movies it can't do overlay( the are running in RGB32 DR). In DxDiag there is no video acceleration (no Direct3D). I tried to rewrite the Bios with ATI.9800PRO.128.Hynix28.031119.bin from the ATI Bios Collection. The programing of bios worked fine but the problems remained. The card has Hynix 2.8ns memory (HY5DU283222A) and PN 109-A07500-00.
I need your sugestions if it is repairable. Thanks and please excuse my poor english.

If the card has any age at all I would just replace it. They can still be found new. you can get them on Ebay but go for the XT card with 256mb or upgrade to the XT800 or the x1300 AGP cards

daboggeyman: The card is for an old PC which had an ATI 9250 so it should have been an upgrade for it.

I asked the opinion of someone who dealed with this problem before about repairing the card, not sugestions about what other card I should buy.

Sounds to late but try adding a new fan to keep it cooler you might be able to buy the fans of Newegg but i think they may not fit that one. any chance you have a spare fan handing around that you could put in front of it to see if it would work ?..

My 9600 did the same but i changed it in time.

The fan works fine now, the card is not heating anymore and PC isn't reseting randomly anymore. My problem is the card is not using its DirectX acceleration in any program. The Catalyst control center isn't loading. I use the 7.8 vesion of drivers.

Try rolling back to cats 6.0, just to see if the drivers recognise your card. I remember something about ATi ditching a load of support for old cards a while back.

I tried cat 6.11 and the driver didn't recognized the card.
