Sorry this my first posting and to ask such a silly question But I have just ordered a X800XL and I thought while I was waiting for it to arrive I would have a go with the ATITool on my existing Radeon 9600 to get the hang of it
I understand that when opening up the program it tells me that these cards are lock against overclocking and tells me to remove the OC lock by going to setting/ misc and check the option remove the clock lock . I have downloaded and install the latest x64 softmod . as I am running a windows 64 system. But dont understand where these setting are to change
can anyone help ?
steve
Normally you have to open ATI Tool then Push the Button Settings on the Right side near Mem Button
Then in the next window change the top where Overclocking is Highlited to Miscellaneous and there is a Option to mark wich is called Remove Radeon .9000/9550.....clock lock

Thats the way I would do it i hope that will help. ;)

Then it might be useful to Post your Card name because the 9600 are all supported but i don't know if it's possible to overclock a Radeon 9600 with x64 Drivers?
Migth be a question for Omega Drivers if you are yousing their driver or ??? others.
I think you should contact your Driver Supplyer because when it's a softmod it might be a Driver related problem???

There are 4 different flavours 0f 9600/9600 pro. ATI were a little naughty as there are ones which run at clock speeds lower than they are meant to. I have a 9600 pro which runs at Pro core speed but at 9600 standard memory speed. In all the confusion of this combo of cards certain manufacturers clock locked their cards because they wont overclock very well at all.
If you are feeling adventurous, you could flash your card to a generic ATI bios and this usually removes the lock. I did this with mine and it then allowed me to discover that my memory was truly rubbish as it only overclocked about 15mhz.
