hi I own the following system:

AMD 2600+
1Gb 333MHz memory
ATi RADEON 9800pro 128Mb

My graphics card is supposed to run core @ 380MHz and mem @ 680MHz
but it runs core @ 324MHz and mem @ 580MHz

Why is that? ATI tool detects that these values are the default values of my graphics card. It's a pretty severe underclock. Now i'm afraid to "overclock" it to the real default values because my graphics card doesn't have a temperature monitor

please help me!

Are you sure it's a Pro? These are the default clocks for a Radeon 9800 SE.
Make some tests to correctly identify the card (e.g. with Lavalys Everest)

A table with the differences between the 9800 variants:

Sapphire, Powercolor and maybe others were/are putting out cards that were misleadingly advertised as 9800 pros but had lower clock speeds and only a 128-bit memory bus. Did you by chance get one of these cards? Open ATITool and look under settings and see what it says for memory bus width.

If you are absolutely sure it's a pro, then flash the bios! this will restore your clocks... But make sure it is a true pro and not one of these crappy "fake" pros that companies have been selling lately.

No it's not a pro it's a non pro. The only way you can check if you have a non pro is looking at the clock speeds cause the drivers recognize it as a 9800 PRO and that won't change to non pro or anything. There is no non pro name in the drivers ati makes so it's just recognized as a pro. How much did you pay for it??? If you payed less then a real pro then it's understandable that it's not a real pro....

I got it when my dad bought an intel 3.0Ghz computer....it was included and it's not manufactured by anyone else than ATi. it's thier own reference card and that should be a RADEON 9800 pro 128Mb

...what stable overclocked core and mem speeds are you getting (and using what cooling)?

core @ 340MHz and mem @ 640MHz is stable and i'm using ATI's own manufactured card and cooling.

I'd look into getting a replacement. 40MHz below stock is a major performance hit

what memory speed is used on the card? 9800 pro uses 2.8ns only.. 9800 np uses 3.0 and 3.3
