phoenix bios 4.0 release 6?

Does anyone know how to use 'phoenix bios 4.0 release 6?'. My Compaq laptop (1200 presario) has a virus- i need to access the BIOS and boot from the floppy to format using my EZY formatting utility- then add a new OS. Im having trouble changing the values in the BIOS - that is i can't boot from the floppy because im not sure what keys to use to change the values in the BIOS- i can change the boot order but it doesn't seem to want to boot from the floppy first- just keeps doing the normal run into the OS......
