I'm putting together a new system for a mate, I'm a bit undecided as to which card will perform better. The graphics card has to last approximately a year at which point he will purchase another midrange card. His budget is £70
Ideally I would go with the 8600 GTS but they are £100-130, and the 1950 pro is £80-90, his budget is extremely strict so he cant open it up any more.

You can get a 7900gs for £52.88 at www.scan.co.uk/todayonly . It has performance similar to a 8600GTS but slightly worse than an X1950pro. Itll be a bit more for delivery unless you have a free delivery frm scan by being a hexus.net member or having taken advantage of one of their offers last year. Remember the offer is for today only and after that itll be £58+
PS. The X1650pro is rubbish.

Nice work, two small problems, its AGP. This new build will be using a PCI-x board. Also it's slightly out of our budget. Thanks though

Well, Im sure he isnt DX10 headbound, otherwise an 8500 GT would probably be a good choice. I dont know if ATI has a lower end card...

Ghost101 found me a 7900gs. Would I be better off going for that. It's suppose to be a high end Direct X 9.0 card, right?
