It took three tries, but now the ATI next generation GPU named R520 has finally taped out, so we should see the fruits of ATI's labour in the next few months. The chip is suppose to run faster than 600Mhz, and ATI will have no choice but to follow NVIDIA's example and do a hard launch of the GPU, which will mean that we will not most likely not see any cards based on the GPU before September.
