hey guys i am looking for a new 19" maybe 21" flat screen for my computer.
i want to know if you guys could let me know what your monitor is and if you have any gripes with it or not.

I recommend either the samsung 226bw/2232bw 22" monitors or the LG 226wtq . All three are possibly the best 22" TN monitors out there. They cost around £200 each with the LG being the cheapest.

I have an NEC 90GX2. It's got a glossy screen (which I love, but not for everyones taste). No dead pixels or ghostings.

no difference in price with the 19" and the 20" or with the 21" and the 22" monitors so to be honest the differences between a 19" and a 22" are where i would look at.

I would recommend Hanns-G or Samsung. The Samsung 216BW 21.5" is around $250 and is a great monitor.

I have the LG 226WTQ monitor and over all am pleasantly pleased with it.Only problem I have is a little bit of backlight bleed at the bottom of the screen but as far as colour clarity and sharpness goes I am well impressed.
I upgraded from a 19" screen to this and the extra space when viewing multiple documents is defiantly a plus,also as I use it as a TV screen as well the size is perfect for watching dvd's on.Price wise you cant go wrong as it cost me £90 less than my 19" which I bought about a year ago.

Some people report ghosting issue's with this monitor but I have none and for further info on this subject try reading here (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=31&threadid=2038000&FTVAR_STKEYWORDFRM=&STARTPAGE=1&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear),some views from other owners.

samsung all the way, if you can afford it go for the SM-223BW, its got a lot of good praise from reviewers and pretty good price, shame you didn't ask last week, overclockers had it on special offer for £138..ish last week, back up to £199.74 now though

Here are a couple of links for TFT panel specs,maybe a bit old, but will give you an idea of what you are looking at.
Most manufacturer's like to exaggerate/boast of better response times,contrast ratio's etc but dont all ways use the same measurements as other manufacturers.Most cheaper 22" panels are still TN panels,which in itself not a bad thing,but still better to be aware of what you are getting.

In the end it is up to you and what you want from your monitor and the best way to decide is to see it in the flesh for yourself.

Oh,and good luck picking one as it can be a headache,there are so many,I know I had when choosing mine. :)

My Hyundai b71a is good, but it's nothing you want to buy now.. It's two years old!

That's the sad thing about flat screens, IMO.. If you bought a good CRT 6 years ago it's still good. But a flat screen that has a few years on it is not worthless, but rather close to it..

The samsung 204B is sweet. i had my eye on it for some time and when i went to look at it in a shop which was CompUSA it was a mess i ended setting the dam thing up in there shop and from then i loved it even more.

Best thing to do is visit a few shops and make your mind up that way BUT you are probaly better getting it though some one like Newegg as i did mine and got it $80 cheaper.

I use a samsung 226bw and it looks awsome, only two gripes I have about it is that when watching a movie that goes black you can see bleeding on the top and bottom. It's not as bad as it sounds but I think all lcd's do that. Also if you get a 226bw get a new stand for it because the forward tilt is horrible.

I have Acer 2216W and Hyundai L90D+, I love the Acer's size and the Hyundai's color and brightness. The Hyundai is two years old and the Acer four months. I bought a Hanns-G 19W for my son and it is great. My friends Samsung 226BW beats my Acer

I just bought the ACER AL2002W and so far so good.No ghosting at all and cheap.I do work the settings a little when I watch a movie but I am picky.

Anything of a reputable brand that was manufactured recently should be fine (although there are always a few minor exceptions...bastards).

Your choice of monitor is largely based on personal preference and it all depends on what you intend to use it for and your given budget. There are 'gaming' monitors, and there are 'home/office' monitors and then there are 'professional' ones.

Just pick one you like (looks good, cheap + decent specs) and then check for reviews just to ensure there are no major flaws in the unit.

the only bad thing is that it costs a bit, i was looking around the £150 (inc VAT) mark
