2 Gig Ballistic 1066Mhz of ram
E6850 core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz
Thermaltake 850w PSU
2 X 8800GTX XFX Graphics Cards

I have a 80 Gig Normal HD for my operating system and a 37 Gig Raptor for my games this is purely a gaming machine the problem is when i start it up no signal to my Monitor any help appreciated. I have tried putting in just one card and only have one stick of ram in the 3 rd slot but still nothing happens light is on the motherboard everything starts up in the pc but nothing on the monitor.

hmm. how about you take out the grafix cards and all the ram. the mobo should be beeping if it is, then the mobo should be okay. and then put the ram and 1 vid card in, and tell me whats happens.

Steve_W

bad mobo. the mobo should be screaming at you for not having memory in it. if you an offboard speaker, is it plugged in correctly?

Steve_W
10-06-2007, 04:01 PM
there is no offboard speaker

there is no offboard speaker

Then don't expect beeps from the motherboard...
What PSU do you use? Are you sure everything is connected, the two additional PCI-e 6-pin connectors?

Steve_W
10-06-2007, 04:11 PM
yeah everything is connected i have tried 1 card with another monitor the same

panchoman
10-06-2007, 04:16 PM
does your mobo have an onboard speaker? your case should've come with an offboard speaker...

panchoman
10-06-2007, 04:17 PM
if both cards aren't working, then the chances of something being wrong with your mobo is higher then something is wrong with your cards, and first we need to figure out the speaker stuff, cause if it has a speaker, then it should be screaming at you for not having memory. and if it isn't, then you have a bad mobo most likely.

Steve_W
10-06-2007, 04:28 PM
there is no case speaker

panchoman
10-06-2007, 04:31 PM
and you have no onboard either. hmm.. so both cards dont work alone with 2 different monitors? seems like a mobo issue, caue the chances of getting 2 made grafix cards is slimmer then a single bad mobo

Steve_W
10-06-2007, 04:40 PM
i will take it to a shop i know get them to check the mobo could it be that my ram memory speed is 1066 and not 800 and the fact the mobo is not set for 1066 it is set for 800

Update Forceware drivers @Nvidia site, also check settings in bios for display/sli settings. Make sure monitor is plugged into proper Video out.

I know this is a stupid question, but did you make sure the Auxilary power connector by the CPU was probably connected?

Maybe your mobo comes with old BIOS, because the E6850 is a 1333MHz FSB CPU. According to ASUS this motherboard supports 1333MHz FSB after BIOS verision 0802, but there're still older releases.
You should try and power up the system with another non 1333MHz CPU, and see if it works. If everything is OK, flash with the latest BIOS and try the E6850.

hmm one thing. when i was looking at your mobo, its an 8 pin cpu connector with 4 pins that have some rubber or something on top.. are you using a 4 pin connection or an 8 pin?

Steve_W
10-06-2007, 05:32 PM
i have connected the 8 pin

Borrow one from a friend or somewhere....just to power up your system and reflash, if that's the problem.

Do you have your video setting in BIOs set to PCI-E and have you enabled Sli in the BIOS?

Another thing, did you reset CMOS(crtc) before first boot-up? See page 2-21 section 2.6. This should always be done before first boot-up. Also if only 2 sticks ram - then blue slots only, 4 sticks - all slots. Your mobo has C.P.R. so if it doesn't like something is wil auto-load a 2nd or 3rd BIOS, if the first one(second) doesn't boot. Therefore wait a few minutes to see what happens.

Now preflash with the latest BIOS and the system will boot fine with E6850 and all the equipment.

Check these setting inBIOS
Extreme Tweaker - system clocks, set according to card(s) section 4-19

Page 4-29 Nvidia GPU ENABLED (sec 4.4.4), SLI memory OPTIMAL (sec4.4.5).

Advanced PCI-P section Primary Display Adapter to PCI-E (sec 4.5.2)

Also check Spread spectrum settings, not sure what they should be for your card(s)
MCP-PCIE and LTD(sec 4-22)
