Hi all, ive just did a fresh install of cat 7.9 on vista, because for some reason the control centre was not showing up/running correctly.
Now im really pissed.... whenever i try to open the catalyst control panel i immediatly get taken to a basic setup screen where i can only change the resolution via a wizzard. no option to go to an advanced screen, or skip entirely and just to to the manual normal catalyst control settings.
what the hell is going on... ive tried manually starting the advanced wizzard, the ccc itsself and nothing, only the basic wizzard will work. ARGH!!
any1 know what on earth is going on??

The only thing I can tell you here is that I watched it take almost a minute for CCC to appear. So long, that the first time I went to unistall the drivers... then all of a sudden the control panel popped up.

Re-install .Net 1.1 and 2, that helped me when CCC would dissapear. Though the CCC/Driver package may need to be removed before the installation of .Net, then Driver Clean, then re-install CCC. Hope that helps! :toast:

the actual ccc wizzard opens up, just its somehow locked on basic. I dont understand why, theres no option for advanced or anything like that.
my mems quite fine, no issues there, just very strange. My previous install was working till i started fiddling with atitraytools, but this problem i got now looks like im just missing a part of ccc, or its not being accessed properly.??

sad but true, sometimes when you have sometimes acting up like this...it's best to reinstall.
OR OR
Do a system restore:)
Now that I think about it yea 7.9 did that shit to me too. I had to reinstall windows 3 times.....

On every reinstall of drivers, you need to turn up the "troubleshooting" page to MAX hardware acceleration.
ALSO, VERY IMPORTANT
The AMD driver do not say this, but it is CRITICAL:
1./ Uninstall the old driver first
2./ Reboot into slow 800x600 mode
3./ Install the new drivers
4./ Reboot
If you don't uninstall, and reboot, BEFORE loading the new drivers, sometimes new components dont install properly due to "lock files in use" issue, etc.

The ATI SIte Instructions also now state that you should remove the ATI Un-installer tool software before loading new drivers
