got the cpu, next week i have a nice check comming and will need a motherboard.
only problen is, i have never dealt with any of the new stuff. and i dont know what motherboard to get.
i680 or p35 or any others i should consider.
i would deffinatly like to be able to add another grafix card down the line for sli or crossfire. i prefer ati cards, the only nvidea card i ever had was a 6600gt that died and took my agp port with it. left a sour taste on that one.
i am also looking for a board with good overclocking abilities. i plan to overclock the snot out of this cpu. my cooling will be my tuniq tower so i should havevgood cooling.
my budget will be about $250 but is a little flexible.

Hm when you plan crf then use a p35 board if you plan to use sli then try a 680i board.
Then look around what features do you need like esata firewire raid onboard....
And then simply buy the board.
Asus, Abit, Gigabyte, Evga, Xfi and even Dfi are doing ocable Mobos that really work well.

plus if you plan on a quad dont get 680i based,p35 is the best for quads.

What do you think you plan on getting? 2 Nv cards or 2 Ati cards eventually? and what range cards do you think they will be? like low end or 2950pros/8800gts? or top end cards?
most x35 boards (well ones I seen) have weak cross-fire support with one pci-e running @ x4 which is ok for lower end cards. but you want both pci-e channels running at x8 or x16 for mid to migh end cards. brb

i was wondering what that 4x electrical meant.
i dont have my heart set on sli or crossfire yet. really doesnt matter to me. but i think i've been reading that the p35 based board ran a little faster than the 680's.
also sometime in the future i may upgrade to a quad. maybe not depends how fast the e6750 is.
i've never even used a dual or quad core machine yet. my current pc is the fastest i've ever used. but gaming wise it's starting to fall behind. i have to run low/medium setting on new games. i want to be able to run high/medium at least.
whatever brand of gpu i go with i plan to spend $300 or so on it. i may never add a second one, i just want the option just incase.

yeah I see I went with the asus p5k premium it runs cooler than the asus p5k duluxe, its a very good board.. or depending on your ram you could get a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R and save a few bucks.. its an amazing board aswell but I have a gigabyte board and it has issues with my ram so Im going with asus since my ram is in asus QVL ram list.
I dont plan on getting 2 cards.. I'll just upgrade my one card as needed.. you could get a 2950pro or 8800gt both are soon to be released, both I think will be great cards and in your price range. (they should be about on par with a 8800gts 320mb).
Edit: also going sli would mean you would have to upgrade your psu.. that psu should fair well with a 8800gt and a quad (how old is it?).

you could get the p5k-e/wifi or premium like tigger suggested :D they are ok depends on what kind of money you have to spend the more the better :D

if you have any sort of plan of going xfire then x38 is the only choice at the moment, and if you have plans of using sli then 780i may be the option.but for now i would say the gigabyte dq6 or asus p5k-premium.

i may wait for x38 seems promising.
i'm thinking of getting this ram 2gigs should do me fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148047
my power supply is pretty new. i dont want to have to buy a new one just yet. i'll probably be using a single gpu for a while anyway.

i think i may just wait on getting an x38 until it's matured a bit. i dont need bleeding edge. i just want dx10 and a faster than i have now system.
the p5k black pearl is what i think i'll get and a decent gpu. should hold me over for a year or so i think.
