Matrox Graphics announced a PCI Express X1 graphics card, which could be used by servers. The Millennium G550 PCIe uses a PCI Express x1 slot, originally designed for I/O peripherals, and it is based on Matrox G550 technology, has also DualHead support for using 2 digital or analog monitors at a time. Matrox said that servers and other enterprise devices commonly use the X16 slot, normally used for PC-class graphics, for other purposes.

"With products for AGP, PCI, and PCIe, Millennium G-series is now the most universal and proven graphics card product line available."


Matrox Millennium G550 PCIe graphics card will be available in August 2005 at a list price of $139

now see thats great news, if one has a LCD-TV or such, and just wants to watch movies on that thru the computer...while still utilizing SLI or a dual monitor setup on the PC itself. 139 US...may be a bit steep IMHO...

well nice and small..perfect for SLI systems, as it fits nicely into the PCIe x1 inbetween the graphic cards, or for HTPCs which want passive cooling, dual dvi, and low power requirements...

...I wouldn't pay more than 50 Euros for it though...*g*
