Intel will release two new Itanium processors next week. These will be based on the Madison core, run at 1.66Ghz and have a 667Mhz FSB. (previous Itaniums had a 400/533 Mhz bus) The difference between these two models will be the cache, they will have 6 and 9 MB. Pricing isn't known yet, though the older 400Mhz models sell for over $4000 in large quantities. Luckily none of us will have to pay these prices, since they're more likely to end up in large mainframes.
After this model Intel will stop making single core Itaniums and make the whole Itanium series multi-core.
