All I have is windows media player 10, and it doesn't recognize the file type. I was wondering what kind of FREE software I need in order to play RMVB files. I haven't tried any of the other players as I am reluctant because I've had bad experiences with them in the past. Any suggestions would be great :)

So what do I do? Download Real Alternative in the top middle of the site? Or do I go to the left column and download the "K-Lite Mega Codec" pack? If that's what you were talking about DaMulta...

You can also use VLC Player, it has almost all video and audio codecs built in.

K-Lite Mega Codec

install everything but classic player. Then go with the recommended install when it's installing.

it even fixes 5.1 sound in media player.
