i used to have my cpu overclocked using the jumper free config settings in my bios i had it set to 20% it was running fine untill one day i turned onmy comp and it came on for a few seconds then went off :( when i turned it on again it came up saying my overclock had failed so i went into the bios and reset all the default settings. then a couple of days later the same thing happened and absoloutely nothing is overclocked and is running all default settings. this is really starting to worry me so pls help :o

I get that now and again with my asus board, even though it's for a athlon 64, I updated the bios to the latest version and it's only happened once in the 2 months I updated, before it happened like 3 or 4 times.

hope this helps,

Gerry.

I second that, it is a pain in the arse, do you have to reset everything back to the way you had it or are some settings kept?.

Set bios to default and update to see what happens. I had a p4p800 deluxe and imo it's a piece of shit. Long story short the board eventually broke from the pressure of the heat sink. It will now only work if I use it without the heat sink.....HMMMM replace the cpu with a new one every few hours or get a new board it was an easy choice.

Check your cpu temp and see whats your norm. May be a bad CPU, memory or mo bo. I suspect your mother board however trouble shoot cpu and memory first. memtest86 is a good tool to try. asus tech and rma suck. all they will tell you is is not their product.

ive owned two asus boards, a p4p800se and a p4p800e-deluxe and both of them were/are good boards, imo.

i would have to agree with the updating of the bios but also update all of you chipset/video/sound drivers as well. i would also reccomend oc'ing your comp manually as i found that i could not even get mine to run stable on a 5% oc using the automatic tools. ive had my chip (3.0e SL79L C0) up to 3.6 on stock hsf with manual ocing. will be pushing even farther when my order arrives ;) checkout www.extremeoverclocking.com they have intel/amd specific oc'ing forums, very informative and helpfull. with a bios update i think you might be able to unlock the cpu multi !!! not 100% though

i have an asus p4p800-e deluxe and so far i'm running stable @ 3.ghz (2.4A)...

the only thing i've noticed so far on this mobo is that, sometimes the mouse won't work and i have to restart the system once again... it happens randomly... this also happened to me on an intel mobo, but i think it was just once or twice... could it be my mobo or my mouse?

My guess is that it is not your mouse or your motherboard that it is the Windows OS if that is what your running. My computer locks up in the screen saver and power save modes. I am pretty sure it is the OS. I would suggest a format of your hard drive and a reinstallation of everything fresh. I can not varify that this will fix these problems, but it might be worth a try. Could try the latest mouse drivers as well. I have not gotten around to reformatting and reinstalling everything fresh on my computer.

Well good luck, maybe some one else here has a better suggestion for ya. :)
