going with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Dual Core Processor Socket AM2 Windsor 3.2GHZ 2000FSB 2X1MB 90NM Retail Black Box cpu how many amps would it need on the 12v rail?

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=25777&promoid=1019

Im paring it with a 2600xt 512mb videocard the psu has 430watts but duel 12v rail @ 16amps max each.. its a antec psu made by seasonic... someone told me the toal amps on this psu is 30.. but Im not sure about that.

Edit: oh man.. I just noticed that post from gen nonsence dont show up in the fourms most recent topics up top of the fourm homepage there... didnt know knocking it off tpu's homepage woould do that... they should really have a section just for clubs and and general nonsence recent posts...

lol chewy, wel its its a 90W cpu, and if i use the formula: wattage= amps * voltage. and im preety sure that cpus use the 12v rail. so that'd mean that your amps would have to be 7.5 amps.

:rockout: you rock thanks! its all been ordered I will take some pictures at work when I build it :P

oh and yes that cpu does not come with a hsf.. so I got the http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=25517&vpn=SCMNJ-1000&manufacture=Scythe&promoid=1019 after lots of debating if it woould fit.. than I realized with help form tigger that amd boards can use duel channel ram trough the same side :P

yeah :P but she dont want an overclock on anything for now atleast. This is a nice build though graphics card is a bit weak but it can support all current games well enough.. all in all I think this is a great build :toast: and the cpu will be good enough for a while/not bottleneck 6most current graphics cards.. so when needed its just a psu and graphics card upgrade in like a year.

Saves money from buying a whole new system from dell elc thats not really upgradeable.

edit: I could of went intel.. but than stock clocks are lower :P and she said no overclocking lol :P The m-atx boards for intel I was looking at didnt support xx50 cpu's that turned me off aswell.
