part 2 boards p35 v 680?

I am resolved to get a p35 based mobo but have been steared away from the asus vanilla p5k board.. seems the dx and premeium boards are all 200.00 ish or more

Does someone have/know of a great p35 based over clockers board they would recommend for under 170.00? I am getting a e6850 and want to push the 4000 barrier:):twitch:

So any thought are GREATLY appreciated...

p35 seems to rule the roost in oc'd the 775 conroes per multiple reviews.. I was all set to get a evga sli680 board, really all setBUT several separtae reviewers "SHIATE" all over the sli vs the p35 so I have had asus and thought of the p5k, but again poeple steared me away from the palin wrapper one, so I am back to looking at good boards good cheap! these forums RULE! fyi... so whats up with Gigabyte having an approved ram list? someone sue them?

well the 164 buck gigabyte sayus it supports ddr2 1066 ram period lol.

P5K-E - its exactly the same as the premium board when it comes to overclocking, unlike the cut back vanilla.

actually the gigabyte s and the asus dx board test goofy, I think that you will see in each side by side review the dx boards do slightly better than the gigs and the gigs runs some tests better, but not latency oddly enough!
could be a tested ram issue??

I did not know the p5k e was the same nuts and bolts.. ok, I already decided on teh 150.00 gig GA-P35C will make one final looksi atthe asus p5ke board..

BONUS I lucked into getting three items all at great pricing all with free shipping.. not that the shipping matters, BUT how cool that the items that fit the "ticket" fell into such a neat net?

ok, I just verified the p5k-e is ggod oc, now that I sold myself on teh Gigabyte nmotherboard, I am finding it hard to justify the few extra dollars to stay with asus. so much for product loyalty lol! I will sleep on it and decide between the Gig and the asus, U" all are a great group... only one other board I was ever involved has such high quality members! BRAVO!~

the p5k-deluxe has regs on the reverese side of the board,they reomoved them on the prem.go for the giga or the p5k-e.

got one, and got 4 friends to buy them in the end. Cheap and it OC's everything from a 2160 to a Q6600 just peachy :D

gigabyte are a apart of asus now :slap: so it makes the boards totally identical :p but my p5k-e managed 540fsb with a e6300 which couldnt do more than 3.8ghz on 1.6v so i think there is more out of the old warhorse yet i also put a series of heatsinks on the vregs which arnt covered on the p5k-e but are on the premium grabbed off a msi board

The gigabyte system I just sold was kick ass e6300 oc;ed to 3120 with no issues and was a 99 dollar board

To be honest, excluding quads it comes down to SLI vs. crossfire - i chose the CF board (P35) because it can take 45nm penryn, instead of just 65nm kentsfield (futureproofing)
