i decided to go x38 for a bit of future proofing. and the ability to go 45nm in the future. also has pciexpress 2.0
i hope i havent made a mistake being an early adopter but it seemed like a good idea.

so 40 lanes? or 32 lanes split to 16x and 16x in xfire or what i read the page its not very clear it could be 40 and split 32x and 8x which would be similar to the crippling effect on the current 16x and 4x splits.....

good point i didnt know x48 was so soon. but really with pc's there is always something newer and faster just over the horizon.
i bought it from newegg i'm in the us. chatted with customer support to get free shipping on it. paid $280.
i would have bought the p5e for $250 but the maximus formula came with the waterblock nb, free copy of stalker and full version of 3dmark06
now to buy ram, vid card and a copy of vista. but i may just use my copy of xp home for a few weeks
I posted this but dont know much about the site
