i had an idea,

i will soon be the owner of a Lian Li Pv1000IIbplus. and i thought about having the inside of the case powder coated, they use powder coating with steel alot, but i dont know about aluminum.

well does anyone know anything about powder coating? is it safe for using in a computer case?
my original idea was to have the inside of the case powdercoated. but i know they use magnets and such in the process. and if it was safe what possible color options would i have?
can you use metal flake? or what about the paint that changes colors? or UV reactice paint?

thanks

I typed in to my explorer....can you powdercoat aliminium..... the answer is yes. Secondly the first hit was a place on the UK that does specifically computer cases.

Magnets?
My dad owns a factory full of aluminium and he asserts that it is NOT magnetic.

Powder Coating uses an ionization process not MAGNETics. The powder is charged negatively and the case positively. Then when sprayed with the powder, it is atracted to the metal case. Then baked on to finish. I don't think metal flake is an option as the particles would have to be too large to 'stick' to the case in the process used.

unfortunately extremeprometeia have recently ceased trading (http://www.extremeprometeia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7095), its odd that the shops still online, but their forums etc are still running, so they probably just havent got round to shutting it all down yet

Didn't really know if the site was still in order....just figured it showed the cases with powder coat.

It is very expensive VS. the average paintjob...and @ the OP color scemes just make the job that much more expensive. If you wan two colors I would suggest you make it easy on them so the price will be cheaper than say an attempt of a "flame job" style idea!

there are a few shops around my area (charlotte, NC) that can get the job done well, for around 50-80usd, which i dont think is that bad. but no airbrushing, cause thats where it gets expensive, i might as well get a new tattoo on ME

Powder coating will be more durable, but also more expensive. If you prep the case properly you could paint it yourself for probably 15-20% of the cost of powder coating. They do sell at-home powder coating kits. They cost about $120, of course one then runs into the problem of finding a place to bake the powder coated product. And I don't think a conventional oven works.
