Why do am I getting the same protien twice in a row? I finished it while at school, I came back to check on it to see what the name of the protien I was now folding and it was the same thing!

The protien has a very interesting name: p3040_supervillian-03 :D

nevermind, the first protien was p3041_supervillian-03 :/

They do send out the same protien multiple times, for redundancy checking, and as each actual protien is huge compared to the small piece each system is assigned. When assembled it is full size. Plus each small piece only does a small fold.

So thus the need for a plethoura of processors. A flock of FLOPS. Millions upon millions of MIPS. Gaggles of groups.

wow, how long would it take to fold a full protien?!

well lets see tehir are millions of computers in the world helping them ok? and their getting mad amounts of data a day billions and billions of GB's right?......im doing the same protean as you....can u see how big 1 is yet?

I've folded one, working on another, my F@H folder is 5.17MB

The SMP workload on my C2D at work is about 400Mb working data.

And when some of the advanced large cores were sent out a few years back they were almost a Gig in working size. Only 3.0Ghz plus Intels got them, and that usually meant a prescott, and lots of heat. I had to change the cooler on our server to a Arctic Freezer 7 pro to keep it cool. And a few other machines.

I probably spent over $200 out of pocket upgrades to machines I built so I could run it. At work, for friends, mine.

But it is all worth it. Some of my family have suffered and died of the things this research will help.

Same here. Just last year my grandfather died of Cancer, and lots of people on my mother's side died of it.
