I must admit, I dont have a great knowledge of the P35 chipset boards available. I am looking for a fairly cheap (of course) P35 that will overclock a Quad well, very well to be precise without breaking the bank.......for UK members, I am talkin around £75 here. I have had a quick scan of the UK sites and have come up with what seems a couple of possibilities, they are:

GigaByte GA-P35-DS3R

or

Asus P5KSE iP35

Which are around the same price, I would welcome your views on these boards for overclocking Quads and any other board suggestions you might have. I dont need all the flash bits like wifi etc!

Why oh lord why did you step on PT?

I would look on the net for screen shot of both bioses, and see which board has the better settings.

Isnt the p35c-ds3r worth the extra couple of quid? It adds ddr3 support as well as having ddr2 slots.

Yes I am considering that as well thanks, I didnt include it in the 2 purely because apart from the memory option it's the same board but I think you are right!

I think the gigabyte board are the way to go if your not going high end x35, they have a good amount of phase things? (voltage regulators) compared to the other brands on the mid range boards. Thier also are the best overclockers in general, the giga x35 boards.. one thing to watch out for is ram compatibity but Im 95% sure your crutial sticks will work for its on thier m-atx g33 compatibity list. (my ds3 dont like my partiot ram very much).

£75? MSI Neo2-FR. It's the MSI Platinum without firewire and the stupid heatsink :P

I love it, it's a great little board for £75.

 I didnt see ya!!!!! Just read some reviews on the MSI though....damn good! 520FSB.....4 phase power supply, some of the best heatpipe cooling around........good price as well, this looks tidy, one review got an E6550 (7 multi) to almost 3.9 Gig!

Solid-state capacitors. Excellent BIOS (the best I've ever seen). Features are great.

I love the board. It's funny though, because some of the sysinfo type utilities (Like Everest) see the board as the P35 Platinum NOT the Neo2-FR :P

It's an awesome board, and the price makes it even better. I wouldn't even consider the Platinum or Diamond, too expensive for not a lot more (a silly heatsink and on-board firewire).

That MSI motherboard looks really nice!

I wonder, is it possible to run SLi on the P35 chipset?

Possibly with a modded driver (HP Voodoo did it) but I wouldn't recommend it. The 2nd PCI-E is only 4x and nVidia cards REALLY suffer with 4x.

Yes if you hack the drivers.

Tatty, here is the p35 board I have. It's awesome, and goes well over 500 fsb. Not to mention its inexpensive, with a load of tweaking options in the bios. I love DFI...

You probably know this, but...

P5K and possibly other low end Asus P35's have HORRIBLE Vdroop. Also, the 'CPU Damper' doesn't work on these lower boards (I read it does work on the deluxe). The pencil mod is simple enough, but thought I would share Vdroop experiences

I'll vouch for the quality of that board too.

And I can get that one for £66 :), not too worried about the Vdroop on the Asus, I suffered it on this board until I pencil modded it but yeah, it would be nice not to have to do it!

I am aiming in the direction of the MSI TBH, am not going to buy until late November or early December and would only upgrade my mobo cause these are crap with quads (2 phase power only). Thought I would treat myself to a little early christmas pressie, am just ordering some cooling fot my 8800GTS as I am going to voltmod it higher this weekend.

Then run all those 3d benchies again  Should only take 8-16 hours start to finish :twitch: lol j/k

Let us know what kinda improvements you get :toast:

I kinda like that Abit IP35 Pro board. I think I may get one when I get a few bucks rounded up.
