What is the value of a Garnet?

Somehow I just stumble upon this garnet on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garnet

Makes me want to start collecting exotic rocks now. What is the value or cost of a Garnet?

Not a lot. And if it was worth anythng I think it would depend on size, quality etc, not just a set amount. Think of it this way, is a diamond a set value? No, of course not, you have different cuts and quality (ie carats)

I think a garnet is classed as a semi-precious stone.
