I know, it's probably because they have more people so they get more taxes. I hate Americans. I say everyone switches to Linux to show MS that we want the same prices as everyone else.

because there economy is on a slope ours isnt, and we pay more tax and vat thats why our divide between rich and poor is less then in the US even tho its doesnt seem like it that most of the time!!

The main reason everything's cheaper in the US are taxes.

But then, US citizens have to pay lot's of their medical attention themselves, wich is very expensive. Also, I got the impression when I was there that housing and appartments are a bit more expensive than in EU in genereal.

We visited a family that had medical insurances for $750/month.

I much rather live in Sweden than in the US, to tell the truth. :)

Our government taxes the shit out of our fuels, that's why I buy mine from Ireland at under 80p/ L instead  I do have to use Redex to get it to burn right in my Jap' engine tho :shadedshu

Nah america gets a lot of there fuel from iraq for free,i think it was the underlying reason for going into iraq.No offense to americans, but your country uses more fuel than any other country,i dont really understand why its so cheap. And the american government refused to sign the kyoto agreement on pollution.

As to ours,we may get taxed a lot more but our £'s are very strong. At least we get free nhs treatment, however crap it may be.

Yer i know what you mean, i see promotions on loads of US sites and think how can they do it, i think someone should set up a shop over there and sell just to UK people at good prices, i bet you rake it in.

our national miinimum wage is now £5.52 an hour, find me a state that pays $11+ an hour and i'll agree that we pay loads more than the u.s.

Thats not minimum wage in your state though is it?, the reason i said minimum is because its easier to make a comparison
a call centre here (assuming you can find one that hasnt been relocated to india of course:ohwell:) can pay anywhere between min wage and £9+ an hour, depending where in the country it is (cities pay a lot more than one in a small town)

The US has hollywhore, alot of software giants, and lax laws on taxes, as well as being the breadbasket of the world so to speak.

In the UK you have state healthcare, the US doesn't. So When I get sick or have a child it costs dearly. It is free enterprise, the good and bad with it.

My son with insurance costs, was over $10K.

No offense taken, every time I drive somewhere in my mom's seven-passenger minivan, I feel like I'm in a parade :p (because everyone else has an eight-passenger uber-SUV).

FREE? DO you not pay over the odds for your treatments thru taxes as I do? At least you can choose when to buy healthcare in the states and get your ailments looked at without waiting a year to see a consultant...

$3.25 91 Octane

I drive a small car. My wife has a small car. 30+ MPG when driven lightly.

Takes alot of gas to equal one child birth though. Even at $7.50 a gallon.

About 1400 Gallons to be correct, roughly estimating 10,500.00 for the bills. Allowing me to drive 42,000 miles or from London to Glasgow for 60 round trips.
