I know many of you hate these threads but Im sitting here at a loss, I burned myself out on World of Warcraft a couple months back and just have been sitting here when Im not at work doing nothing. I have tried a lot of the other big name MMO's out there and they all well, they suck. I like FPS's and RTS's so I'm willing to play them, I was thinking about bying the Orange Box for TF2, but I don't know how it is. So tell me what you guys are playing right now or what you would recommend.

Portal itself is worth the entire $45 for the Orange box IMO :) Then you get one of the best multiplayer games of all time, TF2 and another episode of Half Life 2. Portal and E2 won't last too much more than 10 hours total.. TF2 can give you a good deal of fun online.
Have you ever played Oblivion? It is by far one of my most played single player games, and I'm not even an RPG person :p

well i too enjoy RTS. im playing a game called "the movies" which was published in 2005. its a sim /RTS where you build a movie production empire. you can even create your own scripts for the movies your company puts out. i also enjoy sid meire's railroads! which is an updated version of the classic railroad tycoon. but keep me occupied. i havnt played it in a while but medieval 2 : total war is a wicked RTS. i recommend that first and foremost. really anything out of the total war series is great.

If you are not sure about buying games that you might not like, you can always download the demos and try them out.
Try Hellgate:London demo. I really enjoyed it.
On my computer currently :
Orange Box (All Games)
SupCom
Jade Empire SE
GalCiv II
Painkiller:Overdose Demo
Starcraft
NWN 2
Oblivion
Stalker
Titan Quest
and a couple more I can't think of ...
If you are little burnt out on games, you could always learn to mod something you played already.

TF2 is good if you get into it. I prefer CS:S to it, myself, but that's only because I can't find a class that suits me other than sniper, which is only good on certain levels

I finished Prey awhile back. It was pretty entertaining.
Interesting use of gravity and character orientation.
GTA:SA is a good game. I like it, and it last for a while. Garry's mod is a fun sandbox game, great add-ons for it. TF2 is a fantastic multiplayer, loads of fun.

Apparently Settlers 6 is a lot of fun. There is a stack of mods out for the Dawn Of War series. Speaking of Relic, tried Company of Heroes? I found Stalker rather boring, as with Bioshock too. DiRT is awesome.
The new Need For Speed comes out in a few weeks, and will be an awesome game.
If you want to go old school a bit then try track down Aliens Vs Predator 2, its so much damn fun online and the story/SP mode is just awesome.
If all else fails, try to finish Quake on nightmare. Or just get back into UT2004, instagib will always entertain. Oh, and if you havent got it Test Drive Unlimited could be worth a thought but the forums suck, the patch is useless, Atari are lazy, there is no car packs, the server is slow and there is compatibility issues with basically every computer in the world. But if you get it running well it's quite a lot of fun to cruise around with people.

No one has mentioned anything about Quake wars... does it suck or something. I haven't tried it yet...
And there is always the BF series. I am a huge fan of those, just the sheer playability of the game. online of course.
Crysis is coming out ?????? soon. Apparently. Don't hold your breath though. that will be pretty kick ass.
I myself couldn't stand WOW. I thought it was shit and but my mate loves it and he also plays a game called guild wars... that is supposed to be pretty good. Its a bit like WOW I believe...

there are more people playing older games like MOHAA, quake3:A, UT2k4, and WOLF:ET than QW:ET

i think that is because most people dont upgrade their PC every 6 months. so they still play the older games online which are still a lot of fun!

First day of BF2 had over 24K players! BF2 ran like a retarded donkey for its huge demand for memory (and blood).

haha a retarded donkey. yea, bf2 had over 24,000 players on it's first day but think about how many people around the world with PCs dont upgrade often. id say in the 100s of 1000s.
