Gday all~

I've just put together a computer with a Gigabyte 8I945P-G m/b... and have come across a really annoying problem... it seems like my IDE 2 & 3 ports don't work (I'm limited to just 2 IDE devices through my IDE1 port.).

How do I know if it's the ports or drivers or something else?

I've tried different IDE cables, and single devices at a time... reinstalling drivers and trying to re-scan for devices... reinstalling motherboard drivers, and updating...

what else can I try?

Thanks
i

Are both ide enabled in the bios.

I think i worked out what's wrong...

IDE2&3 are RAID, so I can't run anything except for HDD off them right?

Make sure your raid drivers are installed. My Asus board requires that the Promise raid drivers are installed, and yes can only run hard drives off it. But they don't have to be part of a raid setup. It can be used just as a data or secondary hard drive!!

If you enter the bios their should be something like ide/raid function which allows you to choose the ones you use for raid, switch to disable if if you are not using that ide for raid. If you are not using raid at all just disable raid in the bios.
