Hey whats up i'm sorta new at this so ill do my best to make a argument. Here goes.
I bought a AMD A64 3000+ socket 939 and it was $170 and it runs at 1.86 Ghz. And later i see a Intel pentium 4 processer that runs at 2.4Ghz and its $129. Whats the deal? is Amd Just greddy bastards or intell just better or something. Can some one tell me .70GHz went?

what are u doing because if u are gaming the amd is beater because of a higher cash
and the intel is beater at multy tasking so it depends on what u are doing

I think he meant cache, not cash.

But yeah, for gaming, go amd for sure.

it is were the pro will store things that it needs of doing what ever but if it gets full it puts it in the ram and it slows it down do to front side bus

athlon and intel are not comparable by the speed, i.e 2.4ghz vs 1.8. the number amd uses is what the processor can be roughly compared to i.e a 3000 athlon is roughly compared to a 3.0 ghz pentium 4. get the venice core if ur going for the athlon it adds 11 extra instructions and supplies new features.
happy gaming

AMD's do more per clock cycle than pentium 4's, they are more efficient. And look at any cpu benchmark on a new game, AMD slaps Intel around like its bitch-

That kinda scares me, I'm planning on getting a AMD Athlon XP 2900+ to replace my AMD Athlon XP 2400+ and I see the 2400+ on there, but no 2900+.

Not listed or really bad processor?

Not listed. The list is very nearly 12 months old and is missing quite a few CPU's.

You mean a sempron 2900? Socket A? Thats not really an upgrade :(
Get a Athlon XP Mobile if you can find one.
